SMH Article 'We’ve lost faith in them’: Balmain consider shock exit from Wests Tigers merger

100%.

In the end, I think most of us will be content if ...

1 - The review recommendations about the board structure, director skills matrix & constitution are implemented, even if it means HBG has the final sign-off on the directors & Burgess stays on as HBG rep. We'll have 4 independents (2 women) with strong business acumen & diverse skills who can challenge or initiate discussions on decisions required to be made.

2 - The board continues to operate in the background with no leaks to media & no petty Wests v Balmain politics. Richo continues as the public voice of the board & admin to media (not the Chair).

3 - Richo is allowed to sail the ship like he has been doing. Yes, the board can question decisions & where budget is allocated but then it should be left to Richo to alter. I am sure Richo wouldn't stay if he didn't have adequate control.
My only change to this would be that all directors meet the skills matrix.

Wow, an unnecessary legacy.
I would probably call it a fact of life.
And how would you go about removing this unnecessary legacy as you call it. A legacy that is actually supporting your life by breathing air into your lungs rather than letting you die.
Why are you fighting over this ?
I think everyone agrees people like Burgess are not the right people to be on the board , so what’s the issue ?
He doesn’t own the club . No one on the HBG does . They don’t personally own anything .
So why would you advocate for them, when they’ve done such a crap job .
Because they once went for the same club you did in 1999 ?
That makes zero sense ….

Hang on a minute,

There has been to reviews commissioned by the club and it was there contacts that done this review......for free.

The Brian Smith review was paid for.

They employ coaches, players including Cleary, Maguire etc and recently commissioned Richardson......a friend of a friend.

The are the experts who are supposed to give advice coach and play football.

Where does it end regarding who gets selected?
As long as the independent directors are appointed through an external recruitment agency and meet the skills matrix then I will be fine with that.

The directors appointed by the owners should meet the skills matrix as well.

Lastly the changes to the constitution need to be put in place as well.

Exactly,

But there's no evidence that won't happen.

In the meantime a partner of the JV introduced toxicity going tropo in public threatening dissolution.

That's the problem.

Why is that a problem ? They’re echoing everything that we all are ? You’re just playing with old wounds and disguising it as something else .
The magpies are dead . If they do come back . Then wests tigers in the nrl will be dead.
It would effectively kill the brand

Skills matrix.

That's subjective and who decides it.

If someone chipped in say 5 grand in the 80s why should that mean they should have complete control of an organisation impacting hundreds of thousands of stakeholders, forever, with absolutely zero accountability?

That seems both unnecessary and a legacy of past administration

Rambling ? You just posted 3 posts about some analogy that makes no sense … and you want to talk rambling ?
I know your caper . It’s not changed . Tigers - out ! Magpies -in ! Magpies =good , Balmain = bad . Everything else is noise .
You’re literally arguing whether we should bring in a skills matrix for a board ? Are you serious ?

Got dizzy reading that lol.

The skills matrix was part of the recommendations from the review.

But who decides what is the bar relating to skills experience so called academic qualifications sporting qualifications etc.

It is endless.

And it won't please everyone.

Besides, in public companies shareholders with 10% plus control have automatic qualification unless its changed.

Anyway wouldn't be surprised if Gilbert isn't shuffled around for independent candidaticy......so possible delays may be for these types of reasons.

It’s a mixture of all things , being carried out by an external hiring agency .
The critteria I’m assuming was handed down in the review …

A literal skills matrix with minimum requirements was provided as part of the review. This was provided to the external recruitment agency that was engaged to appoint the independent directors.

It will take time to find 4 independents plus others including 2 ladies who have an interest in the club and are also acceptable to the owners.

I'd be interested to know how many acceptable applications have been received.
