SMH: Maguire not the problem

I like Brooks. He loves this club and it's all he wanted, but the facts are if we were trying to sign any gun backs they would want to know who the halves are and i don't think any of them would feel Brooks or AD would be the ones to help them take their games to the next level.

Time for Madden to come into halfback and play his natural control game, Brooks to five eight to allow him more space to use his natural speed.

It is also time for Jake Simpkin to come off the bench and put more life into the team when its needed most.

Last year, the club identified speed and leadership as the 2 biggest weaknesses.

We bought Tamou but ýou don't fix the leadership gap with just him. Particularly if he only plays 26 mins.

I've been supporting Brooks and hoping it works out but fact is we need a controlling confident halfback who can lead this team around the park.

2 things that stood out to me:
In that first half we were all bunch up and heads down. Needer a halfback to boss the guys around and organise.
Also attacking in their 20, Brooks can't break them down.

Not many options out there for quality halfback. We need to make a big play for Reynolds (Adam not Josh 😅). Has a connection with Madge, Douehi and Roberts.

Ps. Not sure if we fixed the speed issue yet either. Roberts did not chase those first couple of tries. Isnt he meant to be one of the fastest players in the comp???

Sorry only replying to one part of your post but it stood out to me. Did Tamou sit on the bench the entire 2nd half ?

Doehi must replace Roberts in the centres.

Doueihi is a talent and has played well in the halves. Why switch him when it is one less player we need to worry about.

it was a poor effort from him, he gave up chasing... something is amiss with him. I hope his mental health is ok.

That is interesting ... and something to read into. Tamou was bought for on field leadership, and what we saw in the 1st half (and well all our games this year thus far) has been the complete opposite.

I hate to say it but I think he’s just his to collect here retirement money. Doueihi showing raw emotion and passion in the 2nd half is what we need moving forward and I wouldn’t be hesitant on giving him the captaincy sooner rather than later

I like Brooks but watching our great game since 1977 he is not a half back.
I think for Brooks future in the game he should go to Cowboys as a running 5/8. Payton knows him and he needs to get away from Sydney.

I would try Madden now and see what he has to offer.

Simpkin, Simpkins, Seyfarth, Cini, Amore, Cooper should also be given a go.

My team
Laurie
Cini
Roberts last chance
Talau
Cooper upgrade him to a NRL contract
AD
Madden
T Simpkins
LL Cool J
Big Joe until Blore comes back
Tamou
Liddle
Musgrove

J Simpkin. Hooker/Lock
Stefano. Prop
Seyfarth/Amore once fit Prop
Garner seems to have improved

Tamou seems to play well in contract year

I’m no longer a believer in Brooks but he’s not the reason we’ve let in > 20 points for 15 games straight now.

There are massive issues at the club. Huge issues. I think the Madge experiment has failed, I think the recruitment (which I thought was great) in the off-season has been a failure and I think the culture of the club absolutely sucks.

Yesterday was an important day but ended up an embarrassment, starting with our sponsor holding up the number 7 jersey. We absolutely deserve to be ridiculed by rival fans and the media because we are a joke. There is no way to defend yesterday.

Give Madge a buzz ?

I gave Tamou the benefit of the doubt up until yesterday . But yeah he’s hopeless

Isn't Chammas a journalist sympathetic to the Club?

Leaks from players bad.

Leaks from club?

We know how to destroy our season, cause division among supporters and impact the well being of one of 'big name' players.

About time Brooks is under this kind of pressure. You can out a big C on Tamou but this is the man who is responsible for leading us around the field. Unfortunately he just can't get it done. He doesn't have the mentality to lift others around him.

Definitely time to move on from him.

It’s not that he can’t lead the team around, you could get someone else todo that, it doesn’t have to be the halfback. it’s his own performances that need to be under scrutiny. He just folds under pressure. Telegraphs his plays that fools no one and a terrible kicking game to boot.
