Last year, the club identified speed and leadership as the 2 biggest weaknesses.

We bought Tamou but ýou don't fix the leadership gap with just him. Particularly if he only plays 26 mins.

I've been supporting Brooks and hoping it works out but fact is we need a controlling confident halfback who can lead this team around the park.

2 things that stood out to me:
In that first half we were all bunch up and heads down. Needer a halfback to boss the guys around and organise.
Also attacking in their 20, Brooks can't break them down.

Not many options out there for quality halfback. We need to make a big play for Reynolds (Adam not Josh ?). Has a connection with Madge, Douehi and Roberts.

Ps. Not sure if we fixed the speed issue yet either. Roberts did not chase those first couple of tries. Isnt he meant to be one of the fastest players in the comp???

Sorry only replying to one part of your post but it stood out to me. Did Tamou sit on the bench the entire 2nd half ?

Yep he didn't play 2nd half

That is interesting ... and something to read into. Tamou was bought for on field leadership, and what we saw in the 1st half (and well all our games this year thus far) has been the complete opposite.

I hate to say it but I think he’s just his to collect his retirement money. Doueihi showing raw emotion and passion in the 2nd half is what we need moving forward

Needs to go back to Easter Island where his heads at .
$350k for a 27 minute stint lmao
Where do i sign up ?

You were right Hobbo. He’s a massive plodder.

Thanks mate ..

To all you other Easter Island head lovers I’ll accept apologies in my inbox
?

Whilst I'm critical of Brooks' performance in attack and his ability to spark the team at times of need, he is not our biggest problem. Our edge defence and in particular centre/wing defence is appalling. Almost all of Cows tries came from someone rushing in and someone not and then getting beaten on the outside. How you can continually get beaten on the outside like we did yesterday is beyond me.

I’m no longer a believer in Brooks but he’s not the reason we’ve let in 20 points for 15 games straight now.

There are massive issues at the club. Huge issues. I think the Madge experiment has failed, I think the recruitment (which I thought was great) in the off-season has been a failure and I think the culture of the club absolutely sucks.

Yesterday was an important day but ended up an embarrassment, starting with our sponsor holding up the number 7 jersey. We absolutely deserve to be ridiculed by rival fans and the media because we are a joke. There is no way to defend yesterday.

I'm with you here avo on all you've said here.
Whilst Im not a believer or a fan of the garden gnome I dont believe he's the reason for the crap that was dishes up yesterday.
Something else is very rotten at this club. But, maybe it's for the best of both Luke and us to part ways (if possible).

I don't think Brooks was that bad yesterday. In fact, I was ecstatic to see him get a grubber through the line for once.

Long term though, he's not going to be the controlling halfback we need. No idea what he's really on, but if we can offload him paying no more than 100k of his contract, we'll have done well.

Roberts seemed to be the fastest player at giving up

If the performance wasn't diabolical, that looking toward the crowd after scoring the no try was lacking in humility. It was thoroughly cringeworthy and so out of sync with the game.

**Michael Maguire has a clause in his recently-extended two-year contract that would allow the Wests Tigers to hit the eject button without much of an impact to the bottom line.**

A few players could do with that kind of clause in their player contracts.

Someone in our management is inept. This should not be leaked but this is their typical gutless response, to find a scapegoat.

Whether you support Brooks (or not), the nuance has me very concerned. To play well and then be singled out in an article in the SMH is very poor optics (I'm being kind) I feel for Brooks and his family. They deserve better.

I'm still devo about yesterday, but thanks champion @hobbo1 - "Go Go gadget" has turned my frown upside down!

Pascoe doesn't cop enough for overseeing this, year after year. Seems good with the corporates but at organising a competitive footy club? Not so much.

Brooks is not the problem. I think he links quite well with AD, we have showed we can score points.

Our problem is and has always been our edge defence... We have two centres and two wingers who cannot defend to save their lives. At least 3 of the cowboys tries could of so easily been shut down with a basic edge defence read (something U15s learn to do) but were not. We take those 3 tries out and this game looked a whole lot different.

Teams can score either side of the field simply by spreading and know they're good for 12-16 points a game without even trying. Has nothing to do with the halfback being able to lead a team around, can he do better? ABSOLUTELY but is he the issue with this team - no.

Fix our dam centre and winger defence on both sides of the field and we have the size and skill to beat most teams.

If the club thought leadership was what was required they should all be sacked. To then think Tamou would fix us is just nuts.

Tamou isn't a terrible signing because we aren't paying him that much but to think his leadership will fix us is delusional.

We need quality middle forwards who bend the line. Tamou is lucky to be in the team and probably shouldn't be. Clearly the coaching staff don't trust him on the field. He shouldn't have been made captain.

I mean Tamou isn't the problem but the idea that you can turn the club around with concepts like leadership is just stupid.

I was sick in the stomach when he did that. I love Nofa but geez mate put your head down and get back in position. Showboating when all he had to do was catch the ball and put it down.

I'd be more concerned about who listened and how this got to the Journalist.
