Finishing as one of the greats and retiring quietly (on the eve of a new season when the media can't make a big deal about it) is pretty classy in my books.

Seems like he beat them at their own game.

Sarcasm?

I'm not one for the corny build-ups to retirement. The month long highlights reels and tributes.

To be honest, I would have been vomiting in my mouth a bit with the media's month long "they're doing it for Cam" stories leading up to the GF.

I don't like the bloke at all, but am in awe at what he achieved.

I don't think the way he retired was intended to eclipse the 2021 season launch and I think it's laughable that the media have their knickers in a knot over something so minor.

Announcing his retirement 24hrs before the season launch was only ever going to achieve one thing. It’s about Smith the ever attention seeking grub. Don’t let that it’s not about him fool you, it’s all about him.

Pretty weird for an attention seeking grub to forgo a retirement tour where all the attention could have been on him for 2-3 months.

I don't like him either but the numbers tell the story. Cant deny that.

Anyway, now that's done, lets forget about him and watch some footy!

How ironic that the media don’t like the timing, yet they have the option of not reporting it. Not rocket science.

Bloke literally could've made it all about him all year long if he wanted to - every game could've been about his retirement. Now it's in the news for one day and then we're on to the footy.

How many testimonials and retirement functions has he already had? He wants a job in the media, this was no accident.

Plenty not to like about him (2 contracts, his handling of McKinnon, gamesmanship with refs etc,) but the bloke was a winner. No one will get close to him.

All this crap about "he hasn't addressed this or that" Why does he need to? Media is hating on him coz he gives them nothing.

Cam played the media beautifully. I love how he kept them guessing all pre season and had them so upset because he hadn't told them what he was doing. Hilarious that they thought they deserved to know what's he's doing lol like you said he doesn't have to tell them anytbiny

The media are pissed because it's obvious now that he was always hanging the boots up, and the media has been commenting the whole time that he was headed here or there, or staying on, only to be totally found out. He made them look like fools.

As I said, your re-iteration of what actually happened showed him to be even more of a maggot?. Nice work?. Wouldn't want you as my lawyer.

No point playing chess with a pigeon

Yeah your bush-lawyer skills really shined through. Genius at work?.

Got news for you. He’s going to have a higher role in the game than working in the media. You really think he’s going to be a Fox pundit? Won’t be long till he’s a decision maker

Of course he would. He's got Cammy's poster on his bedroom ceiling. He's Cam's number one fanboy, has been for quite a while.
