So assuming Tim Sheens is given another shot in 2013, one would have to assume there are some re-assessed kpi's for Sheens to meet in order to move forward. I'm not suggest things along the lines of winning 4/6 games or anything, but rather, break it down a little further. Moving forwards Sheens desperately needs to do the following:
1\. Settle on a half-5/8 combination that includes a back up plan that in itself is also a true half-5/8 combination. The back up plan cannot involve Chris Lawrence or Robbie Farah or Liam Fulton. Doing so would be another sign of poor recruitment once more. The above mentioned players are to be used in their specialist positions. Positions where they have made their names. They should stay there.
2\. We need a complete review and overhaul of our defensive plans. It's now not good enough to simply say we need to do better. We need to see concrete evidence of this. If that means bringing in a renowned defensive nut, then do so. The club is in critical need of help here. In this situation, Sheens should take a back seat in terms of ideas and just take these ideas on board.
3\. The biggest thing that needs to change is the mentality of the sqaud. It knows it can score points and this is its own downfall. You see, as much as we know we can score points, it's become like a security blanket. I can't understand why with the amount of natural talent we have in attack - Why is our defense and our application in defense not a bigger priority? This is a telling situation. Sheens will have his own methods and created his own culture through those methods. These though have flaws in them which are obvious to see. Some how this needs to change. Which is why i think Sheens' job should be on the line regardless. Fresh ideas and a fresh mind in charge appear sorely needed right now. I'm not so sure Sheens can reinvent his approach?
