So, then...

Get off the pipe. We won’t be anywhere near the 8.

Not winning the spoon is the highest aspiration this squad should have and if they’ve told Madge, make the 8 or you’re gone, it truly is a stay of execution.

If, as I believe, Madge is an intelligent guy then why did he take the stay of execution.

I hope the board have come to the realisation that he needs to see out his contract. But hey, that’s a very, very, very, very small chance of happening.

I’ve been copping it off my mates about coming 9th next year. That would exceed my expectations as it stands right at this moment…

If we got 9th next season, Madge and the club would be applauded

I think the potential list of replacement was pretty good this time around: Ciraldo, Bennett, Flanagan, Green

I don't think we will make the 8 in 2022- if someone was paying $1.20 for us to miss the 8, I would put $1000 on it. But now that we have decided to stick with Madge, we have to stick it out. He's gonna buy his own players this year and the last thing you want to do is punt him in 2022 and the next coach is stuck with dead weight.

I actually voted for us to punt Madge as I don't think he can execute his own and the Board's idea. You can't have coaches responsible to make the squad anymore though.

So we have the continuing board ineptitude and the coach pays the price?

It's easier to sack the coach than sack the whole Board.

Of course, but that doesn't mean its right, cheap, efficient or effective. And all it will do is lower our choices after that.

Presumably, Madge HAS to make the 8's next year. No question. Anything short of that and I doubt he'll make another comeback. With Sheens looking over his shoulder, and a board having found already a scapegoat for 2022 (unless a miracle happens, and we find what we've been looking for, since 2005) ), sounds to me like a year fraught with danger, and uncertainty, with everyone pointing the finger every which way to protect their behind at the first sign of trouble...
Wouldn't be rugby league without dramas, now, would it?

I also don’t for a second believe Lee’s sentiments that he won’t be sacked early. You can’t tell me if we get 1 win from our opening 10 games, he’ll be left on.

If we do start that bad, it’s an ideal time to negotiate with Ciraldo as his contract with Penrith is up at the end of next season.

Regardless, the club has to appoint the two most capable assistants it can recruit. Succession planning has to occur and using this time to have them in place and influenced by the greatest WTs coach of them all is too great an opp. to miss. I'd love to appoint Cronk as one, he has so much to offer.

I doubt he has been given a make the 8 or your out
AD & Talau already out for a chunk
His coaching staff is being over hauled
Sheens isn’t even in the country yet
We have no idea when Hastings & Gildart can fly over let alone then join pre season training.
Teams all below us have recruited stronger

Right now we will be very lucky to avoid the spoon and if anyone thinks otherwise they are setting unrealistic expectations.

I agree we should be aspiring to play finals but how can anyone expect that based off this years results & no new personal joining us.

This is what I believe...

Less embarrassment for the club and Madge.
If 2022 is a failure, they'll mutually part ways with one of the assistants taking over.

I hope we can be competitive but 100% can't see us making the 8, especially with our best players in Laurie and Adam coming back from injuries. It's going to be a very dark year with the same sympathisers making the same excuses for the same poor performances.

It's disheartening.

He fractured his lower leg. How long do you think he’ll need to recover?

Even easier to sack an assistant and head to the bistro while fans applaud at how professionally it was handled.

So relieved Wayne Collins is gone. I was somewhat surprised and disgusted to learn from the review that he was responsible for the poor results on field AND all the cock ups off the field. It's comforting to know he can't exert his enormous influence over the club any longer and the real professionals in Pascoe, Lee and Madge can get on with business.

I must say after what has transpired over the last couple of seasons it all falls on the assistant coaches and nothing else to see here ! We all need to move on with what has transpired but it has left a very ugly taste when the people making these decisions walk away with no questions asked about there own actions .But as they say nothing to see here .
No top 8 next season hopefully a team that is motivated has respect for the jersey and gets a few more wins than this season that’s probably as good as it gets and hopefully no more fluff pieces about how this is Brooks team!

I think Snoopy is on the sidelines and the bloke next to Madge in the box is Millard.

I don't necessarily agree ...with the current roster if he got us to 9th it would be a miracle

If we saw big improvements in Laurie , Madden ,Seyfarth , Mikaele , Simpkins ,Simpkin , Blore , AJ , Tuilagi and he got Brooks , Nofa ,Talau , Douehi playing at a consistently higher level and Stef moving another step up ...and we got 9th

I'd give him one last year if we couldn't sign someone better

Think of it like this. If we had signed him to a 4 year contract, and missed the 8 every year, would you re-sign him? Taylor and Potter were sacked for less. And I know people will argue Potter wasn’t sacked, his contract just wasn’t renewed, but he still lost his job. So it’s semantics.

The key for me Gunners is that a better coach isn't on the market ...there is no use signing an inferior coach if we can't upgrade the roster .......

I disagree. I will agree that there is no proven better coach on the market, but I think there are unproven coaches that would likely do better.

The problem is that the club would need to identify who these coaches are and find the right fit and skillset. History suggests that they are not capable of doing that. They rookie coaches that they have appointed in the past have not been good.

The need for a "name" brought in the current coach.

I would have liked to have seen Woolf, but don't think he was the right fit at the right time. He would have been under enormous pressure with an average roster. I will be interested to see how he goes if he gets a chance elsewhere.

Truth is, sadly, which one? Our coaches box is littered with them. It's like a room full of homeless dogs that no-one wants.

The Tigers will not make the 8 with this man in the team. He lacks the killer instinct to control games and does not have the ability to lead a team into the promised land of finals.

Luke Brooks has had a decade to solidify himself as a talent but year after year has failed to deliver. Despite being afforded a team to be structured around his so called strengths.

Luke Brooks has been described as the most maligned half in the game and it's clear to everyone from casual fans to journalists who report on the game that this man not get the job done. Tigers fans and NRL spectators alike have watched him progress for a boy making his debut in a brilliant fashion to now, a young man with a wealth of games under his belt that has never played finals football and more than likely... never will, at least, within the environment that is the Wests Tigers.

Luke Brooks is an average player that has never pushed himself to become a good or great player. Once he leaves the game, he will not be remembered or celebrated. Other than some worst of all time discussions such as, "players who played over 100 games yet never scored a try or players who played over a decade but never made the finals." A laughing stock, like how Nathan Hindmarsh never won a grandfinal, you will have Luke Brooks. The next Andrew Johns. The guy who played so many years yet never reached the finals. A guy who is happy to get paid and not actually do the job he is employed to do. A guy that the club of Wests Tigers invested in more than any other player for so many years with no return. A guy who does not care about the club, the fans, his team mates or even himself, to show some effort or organisation on the field.

We can make 100 threads and complain until the end of days but the way Luke Brooks has milked this club for every dollar and in return, allowed us nothing but disgust, confusion and annoyance in return can never be forgotten or forgiven. He should and will rank among Adam Blair, Josh Reynolds and Moses Mbye levels of disdain among fans for eternity.

This isn't an opinion piece by your favourite forum user but an honest explanation of how Luke Brooks is an abysmal player and a sub par rugby league player. Looks like we're stuck with him for another year, at least, maybe even two. Let the good times roll.... the fan club has dwindled and the shine has worn off. Even though Luke Brooks has a couple of defenders left, it's common knowledge to the world the guy is just simply.... not good enough.

Luke won't read this because he doesn't care to hear what the fans say and hides from social media because he doesn't want to hear the negative comments the country has to say about his playing ability. However, if you're out there Luke... please do the right thing. I don't have the answers to what the right thing actually is but it's either, be the half back the Tigers need... or walk away from the club, hell... walk away from the game. The charade can't go on forever.

I just wish the clown knew how to put up a spiral bomb or any bomb that puts the opposition under pressure. Its the same end over end dribble, straight down the fullbacks throat.
