So, then...

Yep Laurie ,Douehi and Kepaoa will be out for extended periods in 2022 ...that won't help

I expect Blore, Tuilagi, Simpkin and Simpkins to make big strides in pre-season and have better seasons next year, but we just don't have enough quality to be a top 8 side.

I'd just be happy to see noticeable improvements in: energy, fitness, intensity/hunger to win and line speed.

I don't expect 'definitely in the 8' but jeez we were close this year if they'd managed to ice 2 or 3 of those games they 'should have' won.

We are going to sign players ....we don't have a choice unless we are upgrading contracts for 2023 and beyond ...our current spendings would have us breaking salary cap regulations in regards to not spending 94% of our cap in 2022 .....

I don't necessarily agree ...with the current roster if he got us to 9th it would be a miracle

If we saw big improvements in Laurie , Madden ,Seyfarth , Mikaele , Simpkins ,Simpkin , Blore , AJ , Tuilagi and he got Brooks , Nofa ,Talau , Douehi playing at a consistently higher level and Stef moving another step up ...and we got 9th

I'd give him one last year if we couldn't sign someone better

Think of it like this. If we had signed him to a 4 year contract, and missed the 8 every year, would you re-sign him? Taylor and Potter were sacked for less. And I know people will argue Potter wasn’t sacked, his contract just wasn’t renewed, but he still lost his job. So it’s semantics.

The key for me Gunners is that a better coach isn't on the market ...there is no use signing an inferior coach if we can't upgrade the roster .......

I would agree with that. That’s part of the reason he was kept on. If not the main reason.

I know this is from left field and maybe voices closer to the WT's can shout me down ......but I'm wondering if they are going to target Arthur ......don't shoot the messenger .....

Anything is possible but having said that for any positive àdvancement in the table we need to make sure the basics work for us- catching ball, effective passing, good tactical kicking, positional and support play and defensive and attacking formations and tactics. If we can get that right, the rest is possible. At very least th I s season we have benefited from a very good goal kicker. Something we have not had for several years.

You would think he has been told you stay up around the 8 next season your safe , loose 6 or more out of the first 10 games your gone , clubs would need to have some type of road map to where they want to be at certain times

There isn't anything left out there talent-wise to recruit for '22, unless we were lucky enough for a few to get punted from their clubs in the offseason for whatever reason. So our 3 or 4 additions should be players that play with a bit of desire, show a bit of authority and get a bit of spirit in the joint: the pictures coming out of the changerooms in the doco showed the soulless depression of a morgue IMO. Get some talkers in there.
Tariq Sims should be a target, he's still near the top of his game. Above all else we need to start building this club on grit and determination, fight for everything. Get some respect back.

Get off the pipe. We won’t be anywhere near the 8.

Not winning the spoon is the highest aspiration this squad should have and if they’ve told Madge, make the 8 or you’re gone, it truly is a stay of execution.

This is what I believe...

Less embarrassment for the club and Madge.
If 2022 is a failure, they'll mutually part ways with one of the assistants taking over.

I hope we can be competitive but 100% can't see us making the 8, especially with our best players in Laurie and Adam coming back from injuries. It's going to be a very dark year with the same sympathisers making the same excuses for the same poor performances.

It's disheartening.

You can't say we must make the eight next year without measuring our squad against the competition. If there identifiably 8 better teams than ours then straight away you are setting yourself up to fail.
It's like saying your unrenovated house in the best street is worth as much as every other one even though they have been renovated. They need to show improvement no doubt and the pressure will be on from the get go.

I’ve been copping it off my mates about coming 9th next year. That would exceed my expectations as it stands right at this moment…

If, as I believe, Madge is an intelligent guy then why did he take the stay of execution.

So we have the continuing board ineptitude and the coach pays the price?

That's what I probably learned most from the whole leak or whatever it was. It unintentionally showed everyone a glimpse of the inner workings of the club and how its lacking internal trust, accountability and open lines of communication. It's also ironically the team's biggest deficiency (and requirement).
The whole realisation that no goal or objective (big or small) will be achieved here until these three traits or characteristics are embedded into the organisation's norms and culture.
