I'm expecting Blore, Utiokamanu, Tuilagi, Laurie, Simpkin, Simpkins, Seyfarth all to improve given their exposure to FG..this in itself is the building blocks for better performances all round..

I feel winning breeds winning. They'll probably go another year at least losing more games than winning. I really hope it doesn't deflate their attitudes.

They know they're doing it the hard way right now without any good senior support group.

It’s absolutely non negotiable that we play finals next year. If he had any self respect he’d give himself that ultimatum. No coach who goes 4 years without make finals survives in this day and age. And if the squad isn’t good enough, that’s his fault, because he is the one who assembled it.

Yes but as many have said on here - Madge will just be an assistant to the Head Coach, Tim Sheens and he will just be doing what he is told.

Therefore (if the posters are correct), if we don't make the eight, shouldn't it be that Tim Sheens is the one that gets the boot?

Madge is head coach pure and simple. Sheens won’t be coaching any team.

I agree Mike. I do not hold that view at all.

The question was to those Sheens Fan Boys (who are sprouting that rhetoric) - they can't have it both ways.

Madge needs help, as we've all been saying for years.

He might be the head coach but he definitely has to answer to Sheens and more than likely run things past him. Sheens will be heavily involved.

With Collins and Gray moving on or whatever, hopefully Collins next and some better assistants coming in... surely some improvement is in sight.

Let’s be honest, it’s in name only. If they had any confidence in him they wouldn’t have changed Sheens role to sit above him and bring in new assistant coaches. This is a way for them to change the coaching staff without having to pay him out.

Sheens will need more than 1 season to fix the mess Madge has made.

Dream on. Madge will be coaching the NRL squad. Sheens will be the conduit between Madge and the rest of the organisation. Allowing Madge to concentrate solely on the NRL squad.

You can believe what you want Mike, but I think the proof will be in the pudding next year if we improve at all.. it won’t be due to Madge’s input.

If Sheens and the assistants can turn this mess around it will be a great achievement.

Which is just a continuation of the mess sheens had us in all those years ago…so in a way he might be cleaning up after himself?

To be fair in the last 3 years in his role he got us 2 top 4 finishes and a disappointing 10th. Was also had a fantastic crop of juniors thanks to him but we were unable to retain them.

If we improve it will because Madge has stuck to the plan of brining the juniors through. Sheens will have very little todo with it.

Madge will be the one in the sheds before and after games. I doubt Sheens is going to be in there at half time. I love that Sheens is back, he’s the clubs Godfather, but he’s been away from the NRL for a decade. And even when he was here, he made the finals 3 times in a decade himself. Like Hastings, I don’t think he’s going to be the saviour. He might turn the ship slightly in the right direction, but he won’t completely turn it around himself.

I don’t think that’s true Mike… I don’t think deep down even Madge would agree with it.

Absolutely, that’s why we need top line assistant coaches who can improve the defensive structures and change our attacking game plan of 5 hit ups and kick.

Madge will be the one doing the interviews and talking in the sheds etc but he’ll have far less input next season than the previous three.

I agree it’s a mess and will take time.

For the record I actually don’t care who’s in charge of who and who’s ideas lead to what. To me Madge will be the guy fronting the media which in itself is one of the tougher gigs of the position.
