Soccer Super Thread

one of the big issues in nrl is the use of the video replay.
what i loved about the aleague was its none use,i lovedthe way referees waved play on and got on with the game.
unfortunately, this afo a goal for brisbane was overruled by a stupid video replay.everone had the dirts with it apart from the jets.
rhe goal was disallowed as the attacker was marginally offside .
i hope the video thing is only a trial as it disrupts the flow of the game.the fact that i had brisbane for the draw is unimportant in the case.
i loathe the referral system.

VAR can only be used in four instances:

• Goal / no goal decisions
• Penalty / no penalty decisions
• Direct red cards (not 2nd yellow cards)
• Mistaken identity

Too much simulation in our game now so I don't think it's a bad thing that we have the VAR to help decide in those four instances.

No problems with VAR correcting a close offside decision if the replay is clear. If it's lineball then play on

Feel sorry for the Jets, losing Vargas so early in the season and decimating their squad and finals chances. They can get an injury replacement but he looked real quality and it would be hard to replace him with someone equal and get the fit so quickly.

Did you go to the game on Saturday?

I went to the Sydney derby. That was a good game. Shame Sydney didn't win.

The Jets have struggled in recent years so it would be nice to see them do well again. Will be a tough ask now but can see who Ernie lines up as a replacement

Yeah the Woy Woy Wizard Matty Simon nearly stole it away. FC's backline looks decidedly more brittle this year, Buijs had a very poor game by his standards. Redmayne's boots must be filled with concrete.

Yeah poor old Merrick was inconsolable in that interview. Their system relies heavily on Vargas so it is a devastating blow for them. Hopefully they can pick up a quality injury replacement.

It's a fair big change to lose your star GK and the most energetic player in the comp. Redmayne has never filled me with confidence, being in and out of mediocre sides all his career.

Our style changes without Grant. He could track back and put pressure on counter attacks where now we have a 34 year old experienced player who's better on the ball but a much slower player.

Buijs was very good against Melbourne but yeah was poor against WSW, but most of the team was poor in the first half. Second half was much better.

I think the Wizards time may be coming to an end. Hasn't scored a league goal in 18 months. Can't afford to have someone so wasteful on the bench in close games

Simon does a job. He gets in there late and gives the other team the irrits. They spend more time getting upset with him than worrying about the job at hand. I'd love to be paid to come on at the 80th, throw a few elbows, axe a few people and pick up a yellow.

We'll be right when Cizak is right to go. Might have been playing league two but he's still a step up from the A-League.

Grant is a huge loss just for his motor and ticker. I've always been a fan of Brosque but Grant went to a new level last year and was probably my favourite player for the year.

Jeepers! What a week of highs and lows! And close calls too!

Aldinga Allstars (JRD) had a ding dong battle with Bon Vivant (Mrs tiger_one) in the week’s highest team scores, with the Allstars eventually coming out a clear 6 point victor.

Then, Minto FC (Harvey) and Benzeman da Tiger (WestsBenTigers) had very decisive wins over Tranquilo (Dazz-96) and Blanks United (wt00), while the other games were reasonably tight affairs, with Bozo’s Ballers (Bozo97) , Beijing Town (tba) and Queens Park Raisins (Marshall_magic) prevailing over Fibro’s (851), MANS (swag tiger) and Laroche Lions (tiger_one).

Now, after 9 gameweeks, the table remains still pretty tight. Except Minto FC (Harvey) is a clear leader of the pack with a 6 point (or 2 wins) buffer over the following teams.

Still, this Wests Tigers Forum League is still way early in the comp, remembering that it will extend overall to 38 weeks in total; so heaps All up, there are now 5,288,314 fantasy players in this comp world-wide - our league’s scores are showing signs of being better than most.
Congrats therefore to everyone - just keep it up!

And now for the best part: we each get to do it all over again effective next week-end.

Just try to remember, the big thing is to try and get your team research done reasonably early, with transfers etc done before the first game of every round to get the best chance of more points.

Good Luck to everyone in your trades (or not!).

Holy Toledo! Another gameweek, another week of close games and not too many one-sided affairs.

Noting also that Queens Park Raisins (Marshall Magic) had the highest weekly score of 61, just shading Bon Vivant (Mrs tiger_one) and MANS (swag tiger) who each also scored well with 69\. Tranquilo (dazz-96) and Benzeman da Tiger (WestsBenTigers) also scored highly with 58 points, although, by the nature of the game, one was a winning score and the other the defeated challenger.

The league table reflects week to week changes in positions, so close is our comp. Minto FC (Harvey) remains leader but Bozo’s Ballers (Bozo97) now brings up the rear; but each game week springs its own surprises – so who knows what’s to come!

Still, this league is still way early in the comp, remembering that it will extend overall to 38 weeks in total; so heaps All up, there are now 5,323,099 fantasy players in this comp world-wide - our league’s scores are showing signs of being better than most.

Congrats therefore to everyone - just keep it up!

Gameweek 11 results in this league are again full of surprises.

At one end, MANS (swag tiger) scored the highest team team score 77 in beating Fibro’s (851) who themselves scored a very tidy 59 in defeat, while Minto FC (Harvey) scoring 70 put the cleaners through Laroche Lions (tiger_one) who went down with 32.

Then we had some extremely tight matches, where results were as close as: like, Bon Vivant (Mrs tiger_one) winning a very low scoring affair over Queens Park Raisins (Marshall Magic) 33-29.
Or Aldinga Allstars (JRD) having the barest margin of a 1 point win over Bozo’s Ballers (Bozo97), 43-42.

Or Benzeman da Tiger (WestsBenTigers) defeating Tanquilo (dazz-96) in a close result, 53 – 50.

Then to finish things, Blanks United (wt00) defeated Beijing Town (tba) in another tight result,
45 – 37.

Which all then led to Minto FC, Blanks United and Benzeman da Tiger each remaining in the top 3 spots in the league, with some juggling for positions changing in the body of the comp, with Bozo’s Ballers rounding out the league (even after its tinsiest 1 point loss – some results are very tough!)

Still, this league is still way early in the comp, remembering that it will extend overall to 38 weeks in total; so heaps All up, there are now 5,341,184 fantasy players in this comp world-wide - our league’s scores are showing signs of being better than most.

Congrats therefore to everyone - just keep it up!

And now for the best part: we each get to do it all over again effective next gameweek – which this time will be Saturday 18 November due to International games week off etc. (so enjoy the weekend off and hoping none of our players get injured in the friendlies etc).

Just try to remember, the big thing is to try and get your team research done reasonably early, with transfers etc done before the first game of every round to get the best chance of more points.

Good Luck to everyone in your trades (or not!).

Hoping the Aussies can do our country proud and get an away draw or even a miraculous win

Still can't believe we don't have Berisha Besart in our squad since he became a naturalised Australian in January , out and out striker how can sneak a goal if chances come around

8.00 am for any fans interested

Pitch resembles a cow paddock

Luongo has had some good touches along with Irvine

We are going to get caught out defensively , we are real slow from the back

Cahill off the bench
