Since there is nothing here yet, I figured I'd get in first with some predictions for the upcoming WC

Winners: Germany

Runners Up: Brazil

Dark Horse: Croatia (Semi Finalists)

Flops: Argentina (Round of 16)

Player of the tournament: Luka Modric (CRO)

Top Scorer: Timo Werner (GER)

Young player: Ousmane Dembele (FRA)

Australia: 4 points, group stage exit (2-0 L vs France, 2-1 W vs Peru, 1-1 D vs Denmark, out on goal diff)

Only two weeks now

For those that don't know who is in our group

Australia
France
Denmark
Peru

In my opinion the four big games in our group are …..

France v Australia
Denmark v Peru
Australia v Denmark
France v Peru

Our three games are the 16th June v France , 21st v Denmark ,27th June v Peru

If we made it through to the next stage July 1st in all likelihood Argentina

Game 1 , we have to take a point somehow , we might be able to beat Denmark , but we will struggle for a win v Peru

Game 2 , a draw would be a massive result , especially if we can steal a point of France

Game 3 , best chance for a win , looking like their best goal scorer Niklas Bendtner is out , if we can contain Eriksen we can get a win

Game 4 , France beating Peru is a must in all this

Obviously upsets happen , but this would be our best way of advancing

If we advance we will probably face Argentina .....and we will need a modern day miracle to beat them

All World Cup talk can obviously go here

Thoughts on a final / winner

Brazil v Spain ........Brazil to win 2-0 in normal time

I think Marshall_magic already discussed all this in the sokka thread..

P.S. England will choke..

I think we're a chance of getting out of group stage. Macca got a call up which is pleasing.

Leckie not missing a match is crucial, he is the only player capable of crossing.

I’m hoping for a Spain v France final. I’ll in Spain for the time of the final.m.. which would be good

Risdon has a decent cross on him too, I guess if we have Nabbout or McLaren up front it won't matter. Cahill and Juric are the only aerial threats in the side, apart from set pieces. I think we can take Peru. The Danes will be tough though, they have some class players.

Just a reminder the Predict 6 is up and running again for 18/19, anyone looking for a bit of fun and banter feel free to join

Just let me know if you wish to join up and what team you support , if you don't support a team that's ok

Could one of the Mods please make this a sticky if possible

Manuel Pellegrini and his wife were mugged the other day

Police are looking for these two suspects

I think they have a great squad on paper, yet rely too much on Messi. Without him they still have some incredible attacking options (Aguero, Higuian, Dybala, DI Maria), yet they couldn't buy a win when he wasn't there. I think the last 3 major tournaments they've been in ending in 3 heartbreaking losses will take its toll and they'll struggle here. I think they'll finish second in their group, but it wouldn't shock me if Iceland add them to their list of scalps and turf them out of the group. I think Group D is the most interesting out of the 8, anyone can advance from it.

I'm surprised everyone is righting off Peru

I won't be surprised if they get a result v France and finish top of the group , we are far more likely to get a win over Denmark than Peru

If you blokes are right about Peru we are at least a 50/50 chance of progressing , a far better chance than I would have given us

Look I wouldn't say we have a "group of death" as such but Argentina , Nigeria and Iceland is pretty tough , especially if Iceland's form holds up Croatia are a different story , wish we had drawn them
