Personally I thought it was poor, and egotistical,that he didn’t follow through to the end of the WC.
However, I did read an article at the time where he said he much preferred club coaching and when you look at his Japanese, Scottish and now English results, he’s certainly not bad at it.
One of those “might have been stories” if he’d gone to the WC finals.
