I'd prefer Toure up front I think.

Only other change I'd potentially have is Delpato out wide & play Metcalfe beside Irvine. (well, more like a diamond formation in midfield with Metcalfe in behind Toure, Irankunda & Delpato wider Irvine playing deeper.)

But Delpato off the bench gives us something extra if we need to break it open later.
I like Yengi up front because he's a couple of inches taller and a little more silky than Toure.

Yengi's outstretched goal against Switzerland proves that every inch counts.

What about our Italian star ?
I'm in two minds about Cristian Volpato. He said he would never play for Australia because he wanted to play for the Gli Azzurri. But they didn't make it through.

Maybe I'm a purist, but I believe that when you say something, you should stick to it and stay true to one nation.

I'm actually surprised Pop picked him in the squad.

Whats this all about?
i heard something last week about players covering their mouths...are they sledging in whispers so lip readers cant decipher whats being said?
This is from ChatGPT. I'm not sure if it's correct though -

The rule change was directly inspired by a high-profile incident in February involving Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni and Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior. Prestianni shielded his mouth with his shirt while speaking to Vinícius, leading to allegations of discriminatory abuse that were difficult to prove in the moment; UEFA later banned Prestianni for six matches for homophobic conduct. FIFA President Gianni Infantino argued that if a player covers their mouth, there is a "presumption" they are hiding something inappropriate, stating, "If you do not have something to hide, you don't hide your mouth.

Good luck young man!
Thanks Leck. They got further than the club ever had, but disappointing. My son didn't talk on the long drive home. And has told me he never wants to talk about the game. Ever. So it wasn't 'laughing and joking at the end of the game' vibe but more of a Robbie Farah stewing on loss for three days after vibe.

Sorry to round back to Mexico for a second but, I think I just heard that they have not been defeated in 8 years at the Azteca.

8 years.

Good luck England.
I saw a video where someone explained the Azteca is 2 and 1/2 times higher in altitude than the highest point in the UK. Will be a huge physical effort for them. (that said I don't know how many Mexican players consistently play at very high altitudes either, in MLS etc).
