Ryan was poor in the shootout. He never looked like stopping anything. In hindsight, we should have stuck with Beach.

It was an even game. Australia had the upper hand for the first 60-odd mins but Egypt looked much better in the back half. Despite their histrionics and tactical fouls, they probably deserved to win.

Beach was match ready .. if you were gonna sub off your goalie to prepare for pen shootouts maybe do it at the start of extra time, not at the end

Very dull, didn’t really try and win it, more seemed to hang in there and hope things went our way.
The shootout was pathetic without being too critical.
If those two guys were the best options, then Australian soccer needs a lot of work.

Yes agree.
I don’t know squat about that sport…don’t even like it.
But over the years we always had players like those you’ve mentioned who could make things happen. They transcended the code.
This current mob seem a bit…flat?

Our goalie (Patrick Beach) was probably our best player out of the 4 games, so that’s probably saying something. Jordan Bos got injured at half time but looks decent .. other than that we showed glimpses but could never put together sustained pressure for long
