Soccer Super Thread

In the context of this new apparent rebel comp, surely the rugby league folks in the northern hemisphere have some kind of rights to the name 'European Super League'?

What the soccer clubs are doing would be the equivalent of rugby union setting up a comp here and calling it the National Rugby League?

Could have set it up a month ago, then Bilbao would have been awarded the 2021 Copa by default instead of getting pantsed 4-0 by Barca.

bit disappointed this super league thing didn't come about. Would've been great to see the monopoly of clubs removed from the league and to see different clubs win it every year....would've opened all the leagues right up

Exciting last 4 games in the EPL for the spots in Europe

7 sides still in contention with Chelsea and Leicester with a tough few rounds coming up including playing each other

As for WHU ...getting a lot of the injured players back will help ...Antonio got a double today .....Declan Rice back next week ...nice to have a team in contention lol

The Man U v Liverpool debacle has done WHU a big favour ....City won't have the title in their grasp so Chelsea v Man City game will be very important still to City

VAR ....what a shocker ....watch the Balbuena send off lol

WHU don't deserve to win ...but that is a horror call

Oh by the way ...I was right ...red card rescinded by FA ...2nd time this season we've had a player red carded and the call was overturned ......

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY OFFS --who will rise to the Premier League?

The semi final stage starts today and the 2nd leg matches are on Saturday. 4 teams are looking to take the 20th and final place in next season's Premier League.
Bournemouth vs Brentford
Barnsley vs Swansea

Brentford finished the season in 3rd and are the favourites to be promoted. They are currently 12 games unbeaten and have 31 goal striker Ivan Toney up front.
Bournemouth won 7 games on the bounce to qualify but have lost their last 3 matches. If they win the play offs then they would join Norwich and Watford in bouncing back to the Premier League after relegation last year.

Barnsley usually move between the Championship and League One so it's a surprise that they have qualified for the play offs. Their form has taken an upturn since American striker Daryl Dike joined the club.

Swansea conceded less goals than any of the other teams in the play offs this season but form is a concern. The Welsh side only picked up 11 points in their final 10 league games on the season. The lack of a natural goalscorer is also an issue. No player scored 10 for the Swans this season.

This is almost as good as making the Top 8
