Soccer Super Thread

Typical Poms, hype their team to the moon, then boom, immediately come crashing back to earth. The sooner all the tabloids there realise that they aren't in the top tier, and are outsiders for the tournament, the less pressure they put on the side to perform. They have a good young core they can build around at the moment but they won't win this one. I can't see them going any further than the quarters.

Watching Switzerland vs Albania I spent the whole time wondering if Albania would have been better off with Besart Berisha in the side, I know the A-League is pretty low standard compared to the European leagues, but their strikers were missing chance after chance after chance, I kept thinking there is no way Berisha wouldn't have buried one of these chances, if he can do one thing it's put the ball in the net.

Opening Fixtures 2016/17

Arsenal v Liverpool
Bournemouth v Manchester United
Burnley v Swansea City
Chelsea v West Ham United
Crystal Palace v West Bromwich Albion
Everton v Tottenham Hotspur
Hull City v Leicester City
Manchester City v Sunderland
Middlesbrough v Stoke City
Southampton v Watford

Talking of Chelsea and West Ham supposedly they are looking at making a $ 60 million dollar offer for Dimitri Payet

That has to be tempting for us

My only issue with that offer is that 60 million a game

60m for a guy closing in on 30, just shows how ridiculous the money on offer in the premier league is. Payet was probably one of the top 5 players in England last season but that money is just stupid.

Very happy with Everton's new manager, just hoping Koeman can bring a few of his Southampton players over with him. Pelle, Tadic & Mane will do.

And before a ball is kicked, there's all the player movements to come.
EPL goss is the biggest media grabber world wide…...

Yeah Southampton are a strange one

They were either red hot or ice cold last season , every time you thought they would get on a roll , they'd lose a few straight to teams they should of beat

Watch Arsene bumble his way through another trade window, the guy is so frustrating, you got the money plug the god damn holes already.

Watching Giroud this morning Wenger can't think he's the man to lead the attack to a title. At any other title contender he's a supporting act.

I and every other fan and critic have known this for a couple of years now, Arsene he can't or won't see it, it is time he moved on.
Arsenal now need a striker and a central defender more than anything, anything else would be a bonus.

Be perfect for Spurs

I just hope the Hammers get the right striker to lead the line

Personally I think that Michy Batshuayl is that person or possibly Alexandre Lacazette , but if Zlatan Ibrahamovic got drunk and signed with us I'd be over the moon

His heading ability on the end of Kane's corners. It's a match made in heaven.

Good morning all

Seeing that the EPL draw is now out I thought it might be a good time to kick off the new 2016-17 Predict 6 comp As some of you might know FT has decided to take a break from the comp for a season and I have happily agreed to take over this season until it goes pear shaped and then I will run for the hills

Looking for anyone who is wanting to join up for the comp , please just make a comment saying you want in and your in

Might be one slight change this year , something that FT and I would like to test out , we are going to run a double points round How it works is you nominate when doing your tips that you would like this particular round to be your double points round and if you scored 5 points you will score 10 points This will only be allowed for rounds that have 6 games , if for some reason we have a 7 game round (that has happened in the past due to FA Cup commitments ,European ) these rounds will be excluded from double points

Again if we have a tie at the end of the season , the tips of the people involved in the tie will be calculated to see who has the best for and against and will be declared the winner

We went very close to this occurring in the last comp

To people who haven't been involved and are confused what actually occurs I will give you a brief example

You get 3 points for a correct result and score , 1 point for picking the right winning team and no points for an incorrect result

So I will nominate 6 games

West Ham V Tottenham
Man U v Man City
Chelsea v Liverpool
Southampton v Everton
Arsenal v Leicester
West Bromwich Albion v Stoke

You would then pick your scores after much studying and contemplation and trepidation

West Ham 11 Spurs 0
Man U 2 Man City 2
Chelsea 3 Liverpool 1
Southampton 1 Everton 1
Arsenal 2 Leicester 1
West Bromwich Albion 2 Stoke 2

So the results come out

West Ham 11 Spurs 0
Man U 4 Man City 1
Chelsea 2 Liverpool 2
Southampton 3 Everton 3
Arsenal 0 Leicester 2
West Bromwich 1 Stoke 1

So your points would be

West Ham 11 Spurs 0 ….........3 points
Man U 2 v Man City 2 ............0 points
Chelsea 3 Liverpool 1 ............0 points
Southampton 1 Everton 1 .......1 point
Arsenal 2 Leicester 1 ............0 points
W Brom Albion 2 Stoke 2 ........1 point

Which would be a total of 5 points , pretty easy hey , if you nominated double points you'd obviously get 10 points

You'd think being massive fans of the game actually helps , sometimes it works in the opposite way

Also the banter and sledging in this comp is pretty lively and a hell of a lot of fun

Each week after every round I will post the ladder updates and next rounds , but at times you will need to be patient , I have a family , kids , run a business , run our Fantasy League comp and will probably end up coaching my sons basketball team again until football season starts and possibly his rugby league side next year (I've been approached and want to do it if I can work out a schedule 😱pen_mouth: )

Most weeks I will probably post the tables on a Monday night

So I'd like to welcome all old players back and any new players that want to join

PS If you do support an EPL side please let me know , I'd like to try and get games every week that will have Forum members sides playing each other and creating more interest

If you don't support a side just pick West Ham United as they are going to be the new superclub of the EPL , I'd suggest staying away from Tottenham , Liverpool or either Manchester sides as Tottenham are going to join Leeds in League 1 ,Liverpool and the Manchester sides just suck the big one

Have a great weekend all

Cheers Happy
