Some Facts.......Not media spin.

After 2 rounds the Wests Tigers are:

4th in posession %
1st in line engaged
5th in line breaks
3rd in tackle breaks
2nd in all metres.
2nd in all runs.
3rd in dummy half runs
1st in offloads.

The only category we lag in is putting the ball down over the line.
We also are last in mental toughness of supporters who've been sucked in to a media narrative.
That’s interesting to know that we’re leading in offloads and line engaged. That should make our coaches happy.
Looks like we really only need to improve that one category we’re lagging in as Hagipantelis also said recently, we would have won those 2 games if we attacked better.

we lag in halfback IQ

Falls on our halves. Everyone else is doing their job and getting us into attacking positions, if you can't score with that much ball at the opposition's end, it falls on the halves and especially the halfback.

Bit of egg on the face of everyone who blamed the pack and the team around Brooks for what were glaringly obvious shortcomings in his game. If he can't structure our sets and get us points when we're on the opponents line 5 times in a game, giving him 10 opportunities isn't suddenly going to make him capable.
don't miss an opportunity to give it to Brooks right ...

It looks clear to me we have no formation, no line runners etc but…

4 of our forwards are in the top 10 for decoy runs? With ASU Kepoa in the top 30 only playing half the time in the backrow as Ice.
Every other team besides the warriors has max 1 player in the list.

Brooks and Doueihi are 3rd and 5th of all players for line engaged in the first 2 games.
No other team has both their halves in the top 10.
Api sits at 15th.

Daine sits 1st for half breaks, 2nd for total run metres, 3rd for total runs and 4th for kick return metres.

Api is 4th for dummy half runs and 9th for all receipts.

Looking at our team stats we rank high in most categories except for Errors and completions.
Our missed tackles are mid range and our ineffective tackles are the best by a fair margin from any other side.
Discipline wise we’ve been pinged less than everyone including Saints and Eagles who have played one less game.

Statistically we are doing everything right.

Is this why Sheens is so calm?

And where we do we rate with our CoE, the Concord Taj Mahal is not yet converting into wins.
Maybe put them back into the shipping containers for a couple of weeks, the old carrot and stick trick 🤣🤣

Is anyone monitoring ?

Intensity
Effort on effort
Kick chase
Showing up where you aren’t supposed to just in case
Aggression
Intimidation

Cos I can guarantee WT is LOW.
Correction we were super aggressive when their halfback hit a bloke his size accidentally.

But I guess we were, perhaps, a bit less "vitriolic" when their biggest player absolutely decked our smallest. In fact we were soft to the point it looked like we were apologising that Jake was in Saifiti's way. I'm surprised one of our team didn't volunteer to cop the send off for him...

So lots of runs to nowhere, tacklebreaks standing still, desperate offloads to guys in worse positions....these still count you know. The only one I'm surprised by is top 5 for linebreaks and honestly it's even more depressing knowing that.

Of course they are facts, they prove things are exactly as bad as they look.

With more cohesion MAYBE these things translate to points, but to quote stats without any effort to understand the actual data is foolish. The stats, when understood in context, literally contradict the point that things are ok.

Thanks for sharing the stats Tod P. Clearly there are some poor stats as well, such as error counts, set completions, run metres of our middles, ptb speed, line speed.
So, considering all the stats together, it seems to point to the fact that improvements in these latter aspects are absolutely necessary for the former ones to be of any value at all.
It shouldn’t be so hard to fix should it??
