Up here Wally reads the sport. as well as occassionally commentates Broncos Games.

He's much better at reading the sport than His main rival on seven - Shane Webcke. :smiley:

Listening to Brandy Alexander's prepubescent squeaky voice starts to grate after a short while. And I pray to one day listen to Warren Smith call a game and not trot out garbage references and jargon of American sports ie NBA and NFL- he should probably stick to doing the basketball and baseball on Aussie TV and give the NRL gig to someone else.
Rabbs and Gus are pretty bad but unfortunately probably still the best of a very bad bunch. Sterlo is great, Belcher isn't too bad and Johns n Fittler should just stick to hitting pubs and passing out in airports and police station gardens.

He seems like a lovely bloke and in the right circumstances has a lot to offer but he's terrible calling games. Plus he has that annoying habit of going up high at the 3/4 mark of a sentence and then coming back down again. Great mo though…

The Fox main commentators are good but the colour guys are dreadful overall. Nine is often the reverse. Voss is still my favourite.

That mo is the original Dirty Sanchez. Wally is an abhorrent commentator, maybe if they refused to let him call Broncos games he mightn't be so bad. Still not sure why he has a half chubby for the Broncos considering they gave him the arse from the club.

They've still got plenty of deadwood on Ch9 to punt.

Fox showing all 8 games this year allegedly, the Ch9 games with their own commentary so I'll not have to tune into nine ever again for RL hopefully.

Not only do we have another year of him we'll probably have to endure a whole heap of "Farewell Rabs" related crap throughout the season…and that in an Olympics year with bloody Bruce McAvaney the most annoying, cloying commentator of all :unamused:

Well I think he has been one of the great RL callers we have ever had - rates alongside Frank Hyde and Tiger Black in my book.

Probably has stayed a little too long but he is still a good caller. It is the idiots they have with him that is the problem - Cameron Williams (what I know about League I can write on the back of a postage stamp) thank God he has gone. Phil Gould who is one of the most astute judges in the game and insists on talking rubbish throughout the game and just enjoys baiting Rabs for his own enjoyment - and makes them both seem like idiots.

Unfortunately there is not a lot of replacements in the wings - Hadley who is not bad if he concentrates on the football, Voss who is absolutely hopeless, Tim Gilbert who tries hard but along way short at this stage. There was a guy who called a couple of games at the end of last season who was pretty good but I can't remember his name - he is the best of a bad lot.

Thanks for the memories Rabs - have enjoyed listening to you since the Amco Cup nights at Leichhardt - All the best Champ, happy retirement when you think time is up.
