Congratulations to @robbiefarah and Benji Marshall on their selection in the All-Stars side.

A WT's coach publicly supporting his players???

Hmmmm weird?

is this ur attempt to criticise people who criticised sheens when he publicly supported his players or something?

if not, what's the point you're trying to make?

I never saw or heard Sheens publicly support his players unless I missed them. Thats why I posted this.

He did do a lot of comparisons:

''He'll be our Cooper Cronk"

''He reminds me of Brad Clyde"

"Hes a lot like Noa Nadruku, who I found"

What rubbish. Sheens pushed Farah's barrow for Origin for about 8 years. Every time origin came around Sheens would make it clear Farah should be first picked.

Just from last year:

He has said time and time again he wouldnt swap Marshall for anyone and picked Lawrence for Australian when he wasnt getting a gig for NSW.

sheens regularly publically supported the players, i have heard him criticised for the reverse, openly wrapping players

Yep he was quite regularly criticised for this.

Probably when he was talking about Fitzy, Morris & O'Hara

What he did do more often than not imo was try to keep a player grounded, particularly young blokes….not talk them up too much...I think what the media got with Sheens though and what was said personally to players wouldve maybe been fairly different

When did Tim ever come out and say, "I want to congratulate Robbie for finally being selected in the NSW team" or "I want to congratulate on inspirational performance for NSW" or "I want to congratulate Keith Gallowing on being selected to make his debut for NSW" or "I want to congratulate Benji on being appointed as NSW captain" or "I want to congratulate Chris Lawrence on making his debut for Australia"?

I never saw that, not in the social media, the club website or even during a press conference. It's easy to join a chorus of people to push for Robbie to play for NSW but to come out and praise a player for selection in a rep team is something else.

Chris most coaches dont do that. Sheens would talk his players up and once selected knew he had already said what needed to be said.

Potter is coming in as a new coach so its no surprise he is going out of this way to develop a rapport with his players.

Bit of a dead thread if you ask me.

Ink, you are right about young players. Sheens was very good at keeping them level headed. It worked for some (Lawrence) and not others (Fifita). I prefer Sheens approach to young players.

Name one other coach who has ever come out on twitter and congratulated one of his players for making a rep side?

For what it is worth Sheens spent a lot of time talking his players down in the press. When a media person would praise a player Sheens would usually try and talk it down.He did it all the time with Benji and it was aimed to keep his two feet planted on the ground and take some of the hype away.

As for MP's tweet, just a bloke trying to get some rap-our going with his two gun players

I remember Payten making that comparison to Koro, but not Sheens.

I am more interested in seeing Potter's reaction when something goes wrong

Whether he will take some accountability for what has happened or throw the team under the bus ,so to speak
