Spoon, will it be ours?

If we spoon it's deserved , Woods , Tedesco both deserve the spoon and Moses can have the spoon sent to him as well.
Only then can we say we've hit rock bottom , then it's onwards & upwards .
Wonder if the club would release a commerative wooden spoon ?

Wonder if the fake captain and his mate will shed a tear at the end of the Warriors game. Though the reason for the fake captain's tears might be because he's heading to the favourites for the spoon next year after initially thinking they were top 8 certs.

Warriors have been by far the worst team this year. Individual talent alone got them more wins than Newie and Tiges but they a far more heartless and incompetant team especially considering their roster.

With the form of these clowns itll be long odds as to whether NZ even make the WC semi's.

Knowing our retarded club they'll probably organise a lap of honour for the dearly departing.

Eggs at the ready !

The club had better not but if they do make those eggs rotten ones

I don't even think we can beat the hapless titans.

Its great reading old comments…

As usual Stryker nails it:

You have Foran and Johnson playing behind a pack that should be able to do the goods. You have Valveti on the wing, Roger Tuavasa Shreck as fullback and a pack that surely can handle their own. That's a top 4 roster on a bottom 4 side. We had cap grief and a change of coaches, the Warriors had NOTHING.

There better be no lap of honour for the traitors. That would be a really bad decision by the club.

I didn't state we were the worst team of the comp this year.
I stated it's been our worst season as a club, on and off the field and the results are just a product of that.

Since our inception in 1999\. This is OUR worst season.
Even the Terry Lamb era with Hoppa sticking his finger in was a better season. At least it was somewhat entertaining watching that train wreck .

I think the Knights run in is tougher than ours - can't see them winning any. We might jag one win. So I don't think we'll get the spoon - and I actually don't think we deserve it either.

Remaining games -
Knights - Eels, Storm, Raiders and Sharks
Tigers - Manly, Roosters, Cowboys and Warriors

Think we'll avoid it.

If we do, it will not be convincingly. What a horrible run home for both teams, esp when you consider the Eels run home as an example.

We'll end up on the same points, I think it'll be F/A that decides it. We manage to avoid floggings and we should be safe.

That will be heartbreaking for Newcastle to end up on even points for last place twice in 3 years with us yet they score both spoons.

Yeah hard to disagree with that.

I don't want the spoon but I think it would be fitting for Woods and Tedesco to leave with that (dis)honour.

In saying that, I also don't believe players like Twal, Hooth, MWZ, ET, Suli or Nofo who have tried their ring out whenever they've taken the field deserve to be left behind with the spoon either though.

Really all things considered the Warriors have been atrocious and are my "moral" candidates. Clearly Newcastle and Wests have not had the rosters and/or stability to compete this year. Unfortunately that's not the way the competition works though and I think the club both at an administrative and football operations level have made enough change to show that they are trying to find the right path so if we do avoid the spoon it will be deserved.

We'll see what the following weeks will bring. We have been more competitive so hopefully we shake a few teams up and finish the year off in a far more respectable manner than how we started it.

Who do you see the Knights beating from their remaining games ?….footy tipping sheep stations up for grabs...

No real difference in my opinion if you come last or second last.

Every season you want your team to figure in the final series and once again we miss out so another failure of a year.

Hopefully 2018 will allow me to watch games in September 2018 with some pride and not another disappointing year.

High hopes for 2018 given the talent we have bought, fringe players who are moving on and a decent coach in Cleary.

Why heartbreaking? They're an honest side but if you give up floggings, then that's what happens. We gave up a few floggings ourselves earlier in the year and it's taken us some time to bring the F/A deficit down - even a few weeks ago before we beat Newcastle they had a superior F/A.

In fact it's testament to the sides that may have a poor season with infrequent wings, but don't get flogged too often, that they rarely end up with the wooden spoon.

The main trouble for Newcastle is they've started to put some form together when it's essentially too little too late. Tigers have been on the gradual improve for a few months. Newcastle had very winnable games against us and Dogs and blew them both with fundamental errors, so if you can't beat the teams above you, why would you expect to finish above them on points?
