Well we won and won well, but Brooks was horrible.

I listened to the game on ABC grandstand and funnily enough the commentator said that Brooks has been outstanding the last 3 weeks since Benji hasn't been there....
I said Brooks has been playing much better since Benji hasn't been calling the shots and choking Lukes game and so has the team...
I also was chastised because I was critical of a the club legend and favourite...
funny how things are when you look outside the square..

Not by me mate, I have said it for 2 years, and now look at the right side attack with grub running it, Benji who

I got slaughtered in here last week after sticking up for Reynolds. I hope those guys are warming to him a bit more after tonight's game.

Like I have said all along, not his fault he is getting paid as a superstar, he has a go and lifts the team, and when given a fair go plays really well.
He has played second fiddle to Benji for over 2 years, which was wrong IMHO, and now he is given a shot at what he should have been doing a long time ago, and he is making a pretty good fist of it.

I thought Brooks and Mbye were pretty much spectators until the Dogs tired towards the end
Harry has stepped up into the leadership role that we all hoped Brooks wld someday fill...!

Me too. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing the tigers going well. Marshall got away with being terrible for years and years. Watching him lead this club down the tube on field was torturous. JRey is going well and so he should be with the cash he's on. He has a real motivation to win.

Brooks was in just about everything tonight. His were the passes before the try assist, the kicks that lead to tries, bombs that gave the chasers time to compete, long kicks that landed in the 10m area, giving early ball to LL and Moses in space. We kept making breaks down the left then Grant shifted the ball to Reynolds when we were in an attacking position. Not a plan, just the way it worked out.
For years the team has stood back and waited for Brooks to do it himself, tonight they played as a team, everyone was an attacking threat. There were still to many dropped balls and mistakes but the attack was great, far less structured and everyone playing what was in front of them.

Careful mate whilst I agree 100%, when I said this a long time ago I was accused of hating Benji, which is wrong, I just wanted my team to win, and Benji was a major reason they were not.
I was glad Benji got to come back for a cameo where it all started, but that was for 2018, we went in to 2020 with him still as our starting 6, fair dinkum it was never gonna work, it didn't work in 2018 or 2019, so why would it work in 2020.

I thought Brooks was ok tonight but nothing special and I am one of his only supporters on this forum. Reynolds had a great game, no brain explosions and plenty of energy, but more importantly, did not over play his hand.

I've made my opinion of him pretty clear for some time. I don;t hate the guy at all. I used to marvel at what he could do. But it all ended a long, long time ago. Like around 7 or 8 years ago.

There is a reason saints moved him on in 2016, then Brisbane in 2017, to think we still had him as our starting 6 in 2020 was mind blowing, no surprise we missed the 8 again in those 2 preceding years

Agreed.

The whole team played well when Brooks doesn’t stand out it’s a good things he was solid some good kicks and strong in defence. We are a right side attacking team whether it’s Brooks or Reynolds whoever plays right will start

The clear plan to me was to attack the Dogs left edge which has been their weakest with Reynolds Leilua and Nofoaluma.. it paid dividends..

There have been complaints our centres never get early ball when we did go left Brooks threw 5 early balls to Mbye in the 1st half...and contributed to both Talau TRIES..1 with a kick the other with a cutout pass to Doueihi...

Threw some poor passes in amongst that tho..

the timing was off on the left side, whether that was due to Doueihi being a yard slower due to injury or just being an off night I'm not sure, but at least there's something for them to work on. Brooks's kicking game and defence was solid, and was involved in the two tries down the left side, as well as making a break and putting in a pretty skilful kick that led to a 4 pointer. as Geo said, it was clear that we were pegging the dogs left edge defence, but you really can't bash Brooks after that performance.

I don’t think Madge wants Brooksey to step up and be the dominant half. In fact, he doesn’t want anyone to play that role. In the press conference tonight Madge responded to the question “Reynolds seemed to be the dominating half, was that by design or circumstance?” His response “I wouldn’t say that. Our game plan suited what we did tonight. That’s all. Everyone talks that you’ve gotta have an individual controlling but at the end of the day everyone’s got a role to play. If they do that then the halves can do what they need to in the moments in time. That’s what the top teams are doing. You don’t have to rely on one individual. It’s about everyone doing their piece. That’s what I’m pushing for to take this club to a better place.”

PS: That was quoted word for word. I just took out about 5 or 6 “ya know’s” from Madge.
