i have heard that there are a lot of raps on 13 Joel Luani apparently is going to be a superstar. have seen him play a few times he runs straight and tackles hard rarely missing a tackle cant wait to see him grow up also the same with Sauaso Sue

I really like luani

He was in one of my classes in year 12.
Played in Aus Schoolboys union side in the back row and part of the premiership winning GPS team for Newington College.

NSW Cup: Wests Tigers beat Bulldogs 22-18 to record third straight win

Wests Tigers recorded a 22-18 victory over Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground today in round 5 of the NSW Cup.

It was a grinding victory for Wests Tigers Coach Paul Fletcher (pictured) and his men after leading 16-6 at half-time. The Bulldogs hit the lead late in the game before a try to Sean Meaney saw the visitors regain the lead.

The Bulldogs threw plenty at Wests Tigers in the final minute of the match but to no avail, giving the visitors a hard fought two competition points. Wests Tigers have now recorded three straight wins after losing their first two matches.

Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the third minute when the ball was spread right through several hands for winger Matt Utai to dive over in the corner for a 4-0 lead. Full-back and captain Sean Meaney failed to convert from the sideline.

A short grubber kick was spilt by the Bulldogs to allow Josh Davis to claim a try. Meaney converted to give Wests Tigers a 10-0 lead after 20 minutes.

A break down the left flank by centre Tim Simona saw him put in a nice kick inside for the ball to set up nicely for half-back Jacob Miller to dive over next to the posts . Meaney converted the try to give Wests Tigers a 16-0 lead after 25 minutes.

Canterbury half-back Trent Hodkinson stepped his way past two defenders from close range to score in the 30th minute. He converted his own try for a 16-6 lead.

Things became a little heated between the two sides in the dying stages of the first half after Bulldogs five-eighth Joel Romelo was placed on report. Wests Tigers hooker Masada Iosefa and Bulldogs prop David Klemmer were also spoken to by the referee after a little indiscretion.

2nd Half
Wests Tigers second-rower Jarred Farlow was placed on report early in the second half after taking Bulldogs full-back Drury Low out in defusing a bomb.

The Bulldogs got their second try in the 51st minute when Low scored from a great one handed offload near the posts. Hodkinson converted the try to leave the Bulldogs trailing 16-12.

Winger Daniel Abou-Sleiman got the Bulldogs level at 16-all in the 69th minute when he dived over in the left corner for a try. Hodkinson converted for an 18-16 scoreline.

A good break and offload by prop Shaun Spence saw him send Meaney on a 40 metre run to score under the posts to put Wests Tigers back in front. Meaney converted the try for a 22-18 lead after 74 minutes.

Wingers Matt Utai and Jy Hithcox each punched the ball dead in the final minute to deny the Bulldogs.

Union schoolboys tends to be a lot harder to get into than league in my experience. Had a friend who made that side and was offerred a contract at the souths team this year to play reserve grade. He's 18 and goes to Barker, originally went to Kings and Grammar before that.

Not to hate on league schoolboys at all but that's just what i've seen. maybe the tigers should try to make inroads into union at a lower level. Recruit from those GPS schools and the like as well as having connections with keebra park etc.

Gee Ioseffa is poor. Gave away about 5 penalties on his lonesome today without much of an upside. Had a Moltzen moment today where he blew up at his team mates for not cleaning up a kick properly after he allowed the linebreak which led to it Joe Romelo is human garbage though. Absolute human garbage.

It was a spirited performance considering how out sized we were in the forwards (Sue didn't play due to last weeks facial injury). To the point Fine had to play backrow and Harris at prop. But it was silly mistakes and sillier penalties which opened the game up for the Dogs to get within a sniff

Don't get me started… I was watching a game last year when he played dummy half. At the play the ball, I had time to go get a beer from the fridge before he passed it to the first receiver standing 2 meters away :unamused:

I used to hear a lot of accolades on here for Josh Davis, but over the last few years nothing. Has he been injured, lost form or is he just getting old?

He is part of that generation of players who may have missed their NRL chance becaue of the inception on the NYC

Good grind to win the game. But agree with Smeg, so many little stupid things that opened the game for the Dogs.

Miller was ok.

Drifted in and out a bit, not as dominant as you would like to see but with a Bye week for State Cup and only having one session with the team Friday this week I think next outing will be a better guage
