State of Origin 2025

I can't believe what I've been reading on here about Jarome.
He was tremendous last night. Him and Latrell were just about the only players that put in a maximum effort and can still hold their heads high.
In the second half in particular Jarome's ball play was sublime and his effort plays had me marvelling at just how fit he must be. He led the kick chase and was always the first to get behind the ball on kick returns.
We all should be proud of him , instead I read the same people on here who get some perverse rush from knocking our own, having a go at him.
Do better people.
His first half featured a shit kick, a couple passes missing their targets, one of the worst hospital balls to his backrower (when the long ball was on) and a couple of defensive errors. There were a couple of effort plays in there as well but it was predominantly garbage.
The second half was pretty good. Ball playing improved as well as leading the way in effort areas. Happy to praise his second half performance. Also feel it's fair to criticise his first half performance.

Out coached
Out muscled
Out played
The coach needs to go and take Belly with him , the team also needs to be re thought , Steph , Lomax , Robinson also needs to go to go , Coach decision to leave May out was a joke , he would have gone at least 50 to 60 minutes in both games 2 and 3 , One point Steph made first run , dropped back head went down needed a rest , what the hell is that , May I’ve seen do 2 and 3 hit ups in one set or had the ball 2 or 3 times in one set , Robinson was out of position and Luai was in dummy half again shit choice , Lomax just over rated
I’m not sure what’s more of a joke. Robson playing or May and Koalamatangi missing out. Robson provides zero around the ruck. And seeing as how he’ll be a Rooster next year, I doubt he’ll go anywhere. Daley couldn’t make it any more obvious he was doing everything possible not to select May. You could have even made a case for Teddy being there over Edwards. Karma as far as im concerned. Maybe he’ll smarten up next year.

One thing I never heard a commentator say last night is “it’s like they have been watching them train “
Qld defence was as a team outstanding to watch (in a football view)

I think coaching was the difference in this one
Billy their eyes pegged open and made them watch a blue kicking their dog on repeat while Laurie ambling around the field asking everyone else what they thought

When I heard Munster father passed I didn’t want to watch the game.
Kudos to the maroons standing tall for Cam

He couldn't get into the game because he didn't adapt to the QLD gameplan. He continued to dig deep into the line which gave his outside backs no room to move. He did a lot of running because the outside options were cut off. Luai did much better in countering the up and in which is why we attacked so much down his side.

The QLD style of defence in the middle of the field went out in the 90s because of its inherent risk. Cleary (and Luai) shoudl have contered it - and they didn't. The game was lost by the halves.
The halves were in effective but the game was won on the back of great defence.

You said you don't understand the criticism he has been getting.

I was suggesting that it doesn't matter what you do sometimes, if your a tiger, you are going to get hate.

It was a joke 🤣
Ah fair enough. Sorry I just didn’t understand what you were getting at in the insanity of last night.

So let's examine that. I rewatched the first half just to be sure.
The poor kick happened.
The "hospital ball" is embellishment and hyperbole. Didn't happen as described.
Wingers and centres jam in to cut off plays multiple times every game. It isn't an unusual thing, even AD has done it several times for us this year.
Defensive errors? That's where your agenda is exposed. His defence was superb. Qld ran at his edge all first half and he consistently jammed in and shut down the attack. He was faultless. The ball inside the touchline that led to their try resulted after he was the only Blue that tried to cut off the inside ball, leaving him an impossible tackle.
A couple of effort plays? He had to be dummy half for the first 2 play the balls of every set because Robson was walking. He was everywhere, and you dismiss that as " a couple of effort plays".

He also created space an opportunities for Lattrell getting him one on one consistently.

A couple of passes missing the target? There was one where Jarome saw that his planned receiver was covered and chose to go out the back to Lomax, who wasn't expecting it. That's on Lomax, if he attempts to catch the ball he scores. That was his only pass that went to ground

I've read your consistent bagging of Luai since he was signed, it's clearly based on a pre-existing bias.
It's why you make things up.

You truly have earned your title as the worst judge of football on the forum.

Congratulations.

Do better.

Yes. However I also think there is more than enough points in the NSW backline to favour a defensive hooker over an attacking one.
Maybe they screwed up by not selecting Api who would have provided much needed spark and cunning around the ruck, I'm no fan of Connor Watson but we looked immediately better with him on the field.

Purely on form, Teddy should have been there and I'm no fan of him either, not that Edwards did a lot wrong, just didn't provide any impact.

Stefano was still there after single handedly losing us game 2 because he is a stupid lumbering lump and guess what, I'm no fan of him either.

Jerome made a few mistakes but looked better in the second half, that's it son, save your best for the Worriers on Sunday, and his halves partner Cleary was pretty much non existent and had no positive influence on the game.

Hard for me to say this and I mean no disrespect in saying it, but the Munster tragedy I feel played a part in this game, apart from the fact that Daley has no clue. (I do mean disrespect to Daley though.)

My review is simple we lost the middle and were out enthused, out kicked and out coached on defence.

Hass and yeo were our only effective forwards.

If we didn't have too and edwards we would have been crushed both put up huge numbers.

It confuses me when people bag edwards. Dude is all class does every bit of the dirty work and is defensively fantastic.

We lacked creativity. Cleary was bad, luai frantic, no real attack from hooker and for the first time in along time Mitchell was contained well. We had little from our bench except for Spence who was good again.

To me it all comes down to the coach. They didn't seem up for it as much as Queensland and they lacked a real plan.

Last our long kicking game was putrid and that really didn't allow us any field position.

Any way rant over if loz is there next year we lose again simple

Yes, QLD Defence won it 100%. However, if the NSW halves had countered the defence by getting in behind it they could have turned the game. QLD won it with their defence. NSW lost because they didn't change their game plan to break the QLD defence down, if you get what I mean.

Has there ever been one Origin game NSW have lost where @cktiger has not whined about the ref? Go through previous threads, you won’t find one. The thing about incessant whining is that it loses its legitimacy when it’s justified, cos you complain about anything and everything. End of the day, Daley sucks and he got what he deserved for blatantly refusing to pick certain players. Up the Maroons.
Sorry, I don’t go through previous threads looking for what people said over the years.. don’t have the time nor the need for moral superiority.
In your case, especially, it’s unnecessary.
But, as for whining about poor refereeing in State of Origin in regards to NSW … why not? Historically it’s a fact.
I have also blamed Daley and his selections and game plans.
Now could you please go back 10 years or so and remind me what I thought of our second phase plays then?
Announcing your support of QLD has just made every other QLD supporter on here query themselves.
