State of Origin 2026

Lol all these Queenslanders coming out saying NSW got lucky.

Murrays was a try and so was Strange's first one. Harry wasn't in the defensive line, he was cover tackling and ran into Olakuatu. Bs call.

If those two on technicality were no tries than KP was fair too.

It all balanced out at the end and NSW won the 50-50 contests and the clutch plays by Teddy and Cleary.

NSW scores or almost scored each time they were near the try line. Qld has a lot to work on.

But... Klein will get picked again to make sure Qld wins the second game, because NRL needs to make sure there is a decider.

Daley seriously sound like such a dope in Pressers.

NSW has a much superior team to QLD but Daley is the biggest handicap.

Cleary was the big difference today. Imagine being the sole kicker, kicking at the line each time under pressure but nailing each kick. Defended strongly and spread the ball to the right people. Bloody Tedesco kept coming in the way.

Idk what was wrong with Bizza and Critta, but you give them another shot. They've earned it. I know the coaches don't drop balls but they need to think about how this prep was that made our PTB so sloppy.

Mu changes for Game 2:

Brailey and Api should be the two hookers. You need something from dummy half in origin.

Yeo to prop and AFB to bench. Murray starts.

Felt like Terrell May would actually suit origin the way it's played now. Before today I wasn't that convinced.

Critta gets one more chance over McLean for sure. I was wrong about Koula on the wing.

When NSW were putting back to back sets together, they were very dangerous. Their problem was that their handling and passing was terrible.
In the end, the send off did decide the victory, however QLD made a tonne of unforced errors themselves in that second half and certainly let the pressure off NSW that their defence was creating.

Looking dangerous and being dangerous are 2 different things. I said this back when Tedesco was widely regarded the best fullback in the game, he doesn't have finesse needed at Origin and NSW are crying out for a fullback that can create space and provide class. Tedescoe was great under the high ball, his kick returns were good, and his workrate good. His finishing touches however were diabolical. We desperately need a fullback to come through.

Did anyone think the commentary was terrible? I have no idea what they were banging on about at times. Talking about Cobbo as man of the match after he takes some uncontested bombs and is playing basically how you would hope a winger to play. Screaming about how good Munster was when he was a turnstile all night.

Don’t forget QLD have Nate Myles in there coaching team, a specialist at leading with his head with no arms wrapping the body,
It doesn’t matter that it was Ponga’s head that hit Koula high.
No arms wrapping is the reason it got called a shoulder charge.
IMO right decision made.
if i recall nate myles is mostly head...90% forehead 10% potato

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a terrible decision turn a game like that. Definitely not a game on that stage. He was clearly being advised by the bunker, but Klein took the opportunity to have his Bill Harrigan “look at me look at me moment”. Shocking.

Ill play fantasy coach.

Strange proved to us tonight that some players are just built for origin.

The QLD team on paper was a complete shambles, you had blokes playing in positions they dont even play at club level, other blokes not in the best form.... but they turn up, because they are origin type players.

Cleary didnt show shit until QLD were down to 12 men. He hasnt shown shit in most origins. Strange, even when the blues were down, still showed spark on his debut.

Id seriously shake things up.

1. Tedesco
2. To'o or McLean
3. Mitchell
4. Staggs
5. Mclean/Koula
6. Strange
7. Douhei

8. May
9. Brailey
10. Haas
11. Murray
12. Young
13. Yeo

A pack that can each make 30 runs and 60 tackles a game and not break a sweat. If three of these blokes take runs back to back, there is NO way that the blues dont make metres moving forward.

Braileys job is simple, go through the motions, feed the ball and wait for his moment. The edges then receive the ball on the back of momentum.

Then around 25 mins, take the workers off and bring on the impact in Hamole and Radley. Radley can give Terrell a spell. Hamole on for Murray.

Imagine the game slowing a bit, Radley has a quick play the ball and it shifts to one side:

-Douhei, Hamole (fresh), Staggs and To'o/McLean.

OR

- Strange, Young, Mitchell and Koula/McLean.

Teddy sniffing around both sides.

If Ponga wasnt sent off - nsw fans would be calling for daley to be sacked.

Strange and Douhei are big and strong ball runners - something Cleary is not.

Moses and Cleary can jog on, they've had their chances.

Edit - i am aware this is fantasy, but the team needs to land somewhere in the middle. If they try the same shit in game 2 qld will romp them.
No bias in these selections 😅

Haas and Martin will come in, and that will be about it. Some of you just don’t get that Daley is not a fan of May. Is there another language it can be communicated to you in? 🤔

As shocking of a decision as it was, I think Ponga is an absolute twat. And terrible decision or not, he’d feel like he cost them that game which makes me happy. Hopefully it knocks him down a peg.

Mate if you’re a lead runner and you run into the defensive line , especially into someone covering , it’s obstruction all day . It’s been clearly that for a long time .Olakuatu has to do a better job pushing through the line .
You’re off your head if you think sending off a teams fullback , balanced out the game . It was a sin bin for sure .

Who does Martin come in for? He certainly doesn't make my team. The guy is cooked

I agree. Both disallowed tries were the right call. The Murray one was close, but at the end of the day Capewell had the better body position and you cant reach over him the way Murray did.

3 things (I’m a NSW supporter btw)

1. Qld win without send off 99.9999%…. If you argue against… it took NSW a freak bomb catch with 1 min to go to win

2. Daley is a terrible coach. Absolutely horrible. His press conference was amateur, naive and delusional. Saying that the send over won’t become part of the narrative is delusional. You only won bc of it. They played the worst 60mins of origin footy I’ve seen

3. NSW team look like a bunch of individual players, who think they’re elite, picked from 15 teams, who don’t know each other…. Qld look like mates…. That’s the difference

4. Just bc I thought of it… cleary didn’t do anything until the send off. Munster, walker, KP - all killing him. Without the send off both him and Daley would’ve been crucified absolutely crucified in the media today saying they shouldn’t be picked for game two…. NSW annoy me so much the arrogance to not concede they only won bc of the send off…. Billy slater and musters press conference so much more accurate, real, humble, and honest.

I hope they smash NSW next game so NSW actually get a dose of reality

The match review committee disagrees with you.
There was no way that should have been a send off.
10 in the bin due to accidental contact.
There’s really not much between the 2 calls. If you’re dropping your shoulder for a shoulder charge you’re intending to use force and the fact that there’s footage of his shoulder in contact with his head.Even if it wasn’t the main cause of the hia the intention was there. In the cam murrey challenge if a qld hand had of touched his head challenge would have been won. It’s how the game is reffed now.
Furthermore kliens initial call would of been taken into account same as in a try situation
Yes it did affect the game but if he didn’t cock his shoulder he’d would still have played out the game

Watch the Suali’i tackle again…your take is completely incorrect. He launched in an upward trajectory and as a man already taller than his target, that was only ever going to end one way. Added to the lateness of it and well, it’s just plain stupid to suggest he wasn’t trying to take him out.
He was punished accordingly.
Pongas was accidental with another player involved. It should not have been a send off and reportedly his punishment at the judiciary will also reflect this.
If you’re looking at intent in what situation does a player shoulder charge without the intent to use force
