State of Origin game 1 2017 *Live game thread

It's interesting seeing who the quality players are. Tedesco, Fifita, Maloney, Hayne (what a knob though), Klemmer and even Graham for NSW. Queensland had Gagai, Papali and Milford.

Heaps of good players for both sides but there were some shockers out there. Woods, Pearce, Myles and O'Neill are all a level or two below origin.

Great selection that Justin O'Neill, had a whale of a game…

Surely game 2 we see: 1\. Slater 2\. Oates 3\. Gagai 4\. Chambers 5\. Boyd

Gagai would be tearing Hayne to shreds in attack.

I would have thought
1\. Slater
2\. Valentine-Holmes
3\. Gagai
4\. Chambers
5\. Boyd

17\. Oates

Would be more dangerous. But Oates played well.

I think Oates is a bit of a plodder. Decent player but not great. That backline would be heaps better than what was out there tonight.

Fafita was extremely dominant and was the difference early.

3\. Fafita
2\. Peats
1\. Tedesco

I thought:

3\. Fifita
2\. Tedesco
1\. Klemmer or Peats

Klemmer provided great momentum and Peats was massive in defence, particularly in the first half. He made huge first contact and stopped the Queenslanders in their tracks.

Maloney was good too.

Hope Kevvie has his kevla suit on. He'll cop it tomorrow.
Good news is that there's still 2 games and a lot of talent to come into the side.

Oates did nothing wrong so I really can't see him being dropped. Queensland like to pick and stick. Holmes probably should have got the nod ahead of Oates in the first place though I agree.

Game stats pretty even bar the score. NSW took their chances and we didnt. Make the right changes and itll be a different show.

Trovivic ..probably did not even get close with the spelling, was great off the bench. In fact the only guy for the Blues I thought was not up to scratch was tattoo man Dugan, But my points were
3….Fifita
2.....Teddy
1.....Turbo Toms brother

Jake started a bit poorly - he was trying too hard and made a couple of uncharacteristic misses. He warmed into the game well though.

3\. Fifita
2\. Peats
1\. Tedesco

but you could put a dozen Blues in the points..Special mention Maloney Trbojevic and Klemmer for mine..

Biggest ever win in QLD…. conceding only one try from a kick.... Good effort from the use for a change
Very odd seeing QLD beaten so comprehensively.. Those players missing certainly made a difference

You changed your mind about Fifita yet Ink?

3\. Fifita….really stands up in the big games, the grand final now tonight.
2\. Tedesco.....excellent game, back at his best in attack and defence
1\. Graham......provided the spark off the bench that saw the Blues pull away

You guys should be giving Maloney more love. He was outstanding tonight.

There weren't many in Blue who weren't, the only one who stood out for being poor was Dugan, and he still came up with a great try saving play on Guerra.

But I agree, Maloney was very good.

In what respect?
Great go forward and offloading prop… One helluva flog as well... That's been my position on him for some time
