Statement on Matthew Lodge...

Take the opportunity to use this incident as an example of where he is going wrong and highlight other areas where he is letting himself down in. Set a list of non-negotiable behavioural standards and tell him if he breaches any of these he will be punted or he will never see first grade again.

We don't need this crap….its not like he is setting the world on fire and seems like high maintenance from the outside. If he wants to he will toe the line otherwise he is not worth the effort...there are guys like him rolling in from the juniors every year. Making it in NRL is as much about attitude as it is about talent.

We need a big fast prop, with a controlled aggression streak , as in Roosters and the Dogs, as well as the centres and backrowers that we've all talked about, before we can get near the top teams on a regular basis, it looked once that maybe Lodge , may have fitted this, but he's too unreliable. No point of having someone who just keeps on being stupid.
It's bad enough loosing players with injuries and the unavoidable problems, let alone someone who looks like he will only be Available on a casual basis .
Punt him and look for a quality prop.

He earns more than me, has more opportunities and advantages in his life than me. He thinks he is a bit all that. He disrespects those trying to help him with his poor attitude and walks from one mistake to the next.

But i dont care.

Id like my team to play semi final football and the more talent in the squad the better. Extend his contract and show him some love.

In 15 years time he will look back at his wasted opportunities unless he does something positive now.He needs a firm kick in the proverbial and learn

Lodge is too talented. If he stuffs up and gets sacked another club will pick him up and eventually he'll grow up and be the star he was always going to be. For that reason we should just stick by him because he'll pay off.

I agree partially. The issue is at what point do you cut your losses and lose that bad culture from the club. It can go one of 2 ways. The SBW way or the Carney/Sandow way. Don't think the club would be happy with a 50/50 call on this.

They did till the end 2017…

Now it's all in Lodge's lap..

Every team has DH.

Lets be honest, ours was Bryce Gibbs -

He's got mongrel, and brute strength - with the exception of Taupau, it's something we haven't had in years.

keep him on, I say.

This fellow could be anything, but at the moment he is nothing, my punishment for him would be to play him First Grade starting prop with his only break being half time, less energy for making a goose of himself afterwards

thats crazy enough to work!

Did he really even do anything wrong? What the Fifita's did was literally 10 times worse (according to the respective punishments handed out).

Start of the year he accidentally leaves his phone in a club, gets upset when they won't let him go back in and get it.

Both could have been handled better, but let's face it - he's not too bright. But neither are half the players in the NRL. A couple of minor incidents caused by poor judgement is nothing to get too worried about.

For his development they may not have played him in the NRL all season in any case. Better he plays 60 mins in NSW Cup/NYC every so often, and dominates + build his engine, than playing 20-30 off the bench in NRL.

He's coming along nicely. He's also 18 months younger than everyone's favourite young prop, Klemmer.

Football players aren't role models they are Idols….sick of that crap...

Role Model starts at home... Parents....

Lodge just needs to pull his head in and be grateful for the opportunity Football has given him....plenty of other players with half his talent would kill for the chances he has been given...

Absolutely right Geo…. SHAPE UP or SHIP OUT comes to mind.
