The inconvenient Wests Tigers truth. No use running away from it. Face it and fix it up.

I quite enjoyed that read. Absolutely spot on appraisal of where we are currently at. Looking forward to seeing Joe O play lock to see if that improves our lack of ball playing in the forwards.

Good article to read

Maybe its naive to think, but there is plenty of staff/analysts etc at the tigers, i believe the Hitman Dwyer is in a role around this.
I am sure (or hopeful) they already know all this and have been trying to implement it.
You can definitely see Madge been tinkering with the forwards, no surprise our best game was when Musgrove fired up through the middle and took on souths pack.

Damn good analysis. Cant fault the issues identified and the remedy is in our own hands- either WT knuckle down and do the basics eg tackling, passing, running and drawing markers in and become less predicable or we will continue to sink.

Doesn’t look good on the coach this hasn’t changed past few seasons.

Even the much maligned Woodsy has probably had more offloads then the whole Tigers pack for Gods sake!

Good read. The lack of ball playing amongst our middle forwards is unbelievable. 31 passes between all four of them.. While the better teams have exceeded that with one player! I guess a lot of our results start to make more sense when you see things like this.

Wow great article , it’s a shame mainstream rugby league journos would never analyse or right something similar

Couple that with our half unable to build pressure or guide the team around, surprised we actually won a game.
I think Joffa will be a far better lock than Twal, but we still have Brooks at halfback, a big concern

I think he has a point about all four of them being the same forward. I have no idea why Twal doesn't pass more. He stands in the tackle with his arms free very often and almost never offloads. And he's always been like that.

I noticed Seyfarth passing quite a bit actually in the 2nd half last week. Maybe he's a better ballplayer than the rest of them.

At the end of the day the ball playing skills required to be a middle third distributor are pretty damn basic. If these guys have gotten to NRL level without knowing how to throw a short pass or be a distributor I'd be stunned. I am sure they're being coached to ruck it up.

Problem seems to be it worked for him in 2014 but reality hasn't hit that the game isn't played that way anymore...

Sadly apart from Leilua they are all cut from the same mold.

It’s a very tough article to read, we really are quite useless as a team and this is all on the coaching staff, imo. Well them and the players can’t be bothered attitude in defence.

they cant even spell analyse

Fair assessment. This part is the most telling of our problems for mine

No team averages more tackles inside the opposition 20-metre line per game, but only the Bulldogs score fewer points per tackle inside the opposition 20 than the Tigers' 0.51.

If we can actually use the ball when we have it in good field position early in games we may start putting teams under pressure

Good assessment and something I hope the club is working towards addressing. It's the little things like extra effort in defence which will go a long way towards fixing up the other problems.

Bench usage would be the only thing I'd add., starters vs benches in performance in key stats would be interesting to look at as we compete in the 1st 20 most games. Is it a bench usage (ie do we keep players on too long or not) vs talent would be an interesting point to cover.

Like the point about our forwards all the same. Alexander got me onto the idea of a first prop - ie takes first run. Dont think we have one of them at the club.

I seem to remember we were very good in this department last year.
