Still weird the Eels didn't release him, but have him an upgrade

They are pushing to keep him.

Surely if our contract with him is registered, he's locked in now and cannot renege on us.

I watched the final of the eels CC team and he was playing prop. Still looked raw and didn’t run that hard wasn’t overly intimidating for his size (Payne hass comparisons looked over the top after I watched it). That being said his work rate and defence was very good. He is obviously still young and his attack will further improve.

Excellent news... Just puts it out there that he is coming to us and we won't be changing our minds...

Well done to our recruitment Team.

Now that the contract is finalised and confirmed, the player can't backflip or renege on a deal under the new rules. Parramatta upgraded his contract as a last ditch effort to get him to renege, however that cannot happen anymore (unless WT officially release him from his deal).

What are the new rules?

Can you imagine the uproar in this place if the scenario was reversed?

Not only have parra missed out on signing a massive prospect, they've now upgraded him before they let him go.

Basically, there is no cooling off period as there was in seasons past, in which a player could renege on a deal once agreed, finalised and registered with the NRL. Stefanos contract was never registered and finalised as WT were waiting for a response about his release from Parra for 2020. If he had been granted a release they would have had to amend the contract to add another year with the relevant salary to match, then register it. Now that the contract is signed and registered it's official and cannot be broken unless the club grants an official release from the contract.

He can still pull a Matto. I think that's what the grubs are banking on.

But it sounds like the kid is of good character. Which is the reason why he is honouring his eels contract.

Which knowing us, anything’s possible. If he’s as good as they think he is, only idiots would give him up. Imagine having our own Payne Haas.

Yeah he's already showing he's not a Matto by putting in for the Eels even though he'd be getting more cash from us if he were released. We shouldn't operate on the assumption that all players are as low as the likes of Matterson and Moses...

Again, we all thought Matterson was of good character. Need to stop assuming certain players are stand up guys. Any of them can turn on a dime.

Time to throw the kid some paper bags /gifts behind Parra’s back

Fantastic news. Looking forward to watching him develop during the 2020 season and then WT giving Parra the bird on November 1st when he becomes a Tiger. Up the Tigers!
