I can see why maybe they didn’t want to bring him on at the death as it’s a bit of pressure perhaps. However, the fact that eels don’t really need Big Stef, in conjunction with there being no reggies this year is a little tough of them to hold a kid back a year from regular first grade when he most likely is regularly in our 17 if he were to be released. Also I can imagine debut stories are looked upon with a lot of fondness, but 10 sympathy seconds at the end would be kind of unsavoury to reminisce on I imagine
