Stefano Utoikamanu #241

It will be interesting to see if he is dropped for this week's game.
It won't be a good look with the crowd booing our own player.
Which I'm sure will happen.
I don't care about him but I'm sure we'll hear about it on the news.
Send him out there. He makes big boy decisions, he needs to wear the big boy pants.

We are paying him under the terms of his current contract, he needs to earn that money

I think the Richo comment has been blown way out of proportion. He was merely saying we need guys who are going to stick around through some adversity. I don't think it was aimed specifically at Stefano. But Richo is right...we DO need guys who will be up for some tough times. If you're not able to deal with that, then it's better you leave/don't come in the first place. I don't see what's wrong with that comment.
To me Richo's comment is 100% the type of player we need and the type of player we need to target. There is no use in having the latest and greatest if they have no heart.
Sure big Stefanie may play finals next year but I am still hopeful we can get their a year later.

I am glad we didn't stuff up our salary cap with him at $800k.
On his current form no big loss and even if he goes on bigger and better things he still has no guts or the desire to do the heavy lifting required.
The same thing that Andrew John's said about Galvin applies to him. His reputation/legacy would have been greater if he stayed and dragged us up through ranks.

See ya Stefanie and yep you will get heckled from now on in..

A snippet from the Sydney Morning Herald this year 6/2/24
The 23-year-old front-rower has been flattered by the speculation over his future, but declared he wanted to pledge his allegiance to new coach Benji Marshall and the club.

“I’m trying to focus on making the top eight, that’s what I want to do – I want to stay at the Tigers,” Utoikamanu told this masthead.
“I’ve loved every minute I’ve been here. They’ve given me my big opportunity to become the player I am now.

And another from last year, Sydney Morning Herald again 10/5/23

“Definitely down the track, I want to be a captain of this club,” Utoikamanu said.

But the writing was on the wall in the same article

“When you see the players that are in the [representative] teams, they are all top tier and playing in the [top] eight, that’s mostly where they get the team from,” he said.

“If we can get up there, it gives you a big chance of getting in here.”

Its a shame he hasn't been able to go to the next level and lead us out of the wilderness. Earlier in the year through the Easter period for 3 weeks he averaged 130m per game and had 15 tackle busts. His form has dropped off a cliff and you have to ask why? This is a guy who set off alarms by turning up to the COE to train on Christmas Day. Why couldn't the coaching staff here rectify his form slump, that is a major concern for me and I could see why players would believe they will play their best football elsewhere.

To me it says that, we kick people when they are going out the door. In Richo's short term, it's been Fulton and now Stefano. In Benji's term, we can add Lee and Pascoe as well.

Not sure what's wrong with just saying thank you for your time, we wish you well in the future. Stefano didn't play well last couple of months, completely understand that but to be given this type of farewell by the fans and now the CEO- I don't feel he deserves that.

Seems like I'm in a massive minority here with this so I'll just leave it at that.

I can't see this club going anywhere.
Stephano has been on good money for a couple of years now - and I doubt anyone believes he has given good value for those $$$. He was offered a huge contract - far above his real value and he rejected it. He doesn't want to be here. He won't get the $$$ anywhere else that we have offered. So Richo is quite right when he says he only wants players who are invested in the fight to get this club moving upwards. Steph isn't that player. So I'm quite comfortable with Richo's comment. Steph is taking an easier path. Says it all really. Imagine JWH doing similar? Not on your life. That guy just loves the contest. Steph doesn't. He will never be the alpha prop.

Don't mind paying 800k for a player that is worth 600-700 because we do have to pay overs at this stage, but to pay that to someone only worth half that is ridiculous. We definitely dodged a bullet. Get 2 hard-working forwards for the price of 1, and do what ever it takes to look after Pole & the Fainu brothers

Good for you, perhaps change your avatar to a chameleon or some other creature that turns coat when the fight is needed .. Tiger one is inaccurate

Not me
I said Tigers should go hard for him
He didn't want to.
Saw the writing on the wall.
Good coaches look ahead
No mate. No .. the two clowns 🤡 Fiascoe and Lee the Cretin leaked it to the press and showed him what a joke this club was under them and then Drunken Clown Buzz Slothfield got Sheens the gig .. Thankfully they are gone and now under Richo we have a chance to turn things around .. but clearing out the wreckage they left us with will take time

UhhhUmmm......Apparently it's the Dogs..Stefanie must've been speaking to Woodies missus as uhhhummm Stefainies missus doesnt want to leave Sydney. Gee I hope he regrets this move just like Woods did...
Leave him alone he just wants to have a feed with his Missus.
