I doubt it. He does what Sheens tells him. At the Wests AGM he did not even have the guts to say all WT NRL players were forced to play with BRET. He said the players (like Magic Waters) for example went to Balmain on there on accord to train in better facilities and play with 'better' players. Now anyone who can be as dishonest as that to the faces of one hundred WT supporters does not have my respect.
This is the man who prior to the release of the 2011 jersey said he wanted the jersey to represent the WT and less of Balmain and Wests. Then he unveils a predominately Balmain jersey for the 2011 main jersey.
This is the man who can not say when or if the WT 'Wests' heritage jersey will now be released but has organised pink jerseys to be made.
I'm going off topic I know, but I just want the point to be made.
Firstly on the topic of the players moving to BRET - I have no doubt that the players were given a choice between either club, and chose Balmain for the reasons Humphreys outlined. I can even see them asking the player you mentioned, Nathan Waters: Nathan, do you want to train with quality facilities at a professional ground, or on a cow paddock out the back of Liverpool?? Do you want to play with fringe first grade players with NRL experience and a grand final under their belt like Al Shirnack and Sean Meaney, or players who couldn't get a run at Balmain?? I think the answer is quite clear here.
In regard to the jerseys, I agree with the general sentiment here that gold (or orange) is the colour that sets us apart from the rest of the competition. However they choose to display that on a jersey I'm happy with, as long as we have our own look, which it is quite clear that we do. For the heritage jerseys, I actually asked one of the merchandise people about this, and was told that the heritage jerseys weren't going be able to arrive until after winter, and as a result they decided it wasn't a financially viable decision to get them in as they wouldn't sell enough of them (which in my opinion is a smart business decision) along with the fact they are the same design to that of last year.
I believe that Steve Humphreys is the best football/business mix CEO we've had. He has the business acumen to keep us at the top of the market, as well as the personal rugby league administrative knowledge to run a footy club at the same time. A consummate professional who clearly is bringing the club along in strides. (Signing of Tuqiri, Meriton on as major sponsor, Marshall, Farah, Lawrence, Ellis extensions, brought another home game back to Leichhardt and Campbelltown - need I say any more?)
