Steve Folkes Joins Wests Tigers !!

I see it as all postive, and an astute move.
We have the continuity of Sheens for at least the first half of next season(subject to results),we avoid a humungous & totally undeserved payout by letting Sheens go a year early,we also have installed a proven discipliarian as our trainer who doubles up as a coaching successor…& also the pick of coaches available for 2010.
Importantly, more than anything else,it sends a clear signal to Sheens ( & footy fans) that a further contract extension beyond 2010 isnt the formaility that it has been under previous
managements. It may be about getting results after all...
Cheers for Mr Humphries' initial play.

Peeps are reading way too much into it.

He is there for a job,if anyone was going to succeed Sheens surely it would be Royce who has been assistant for years.

Im very happy for Folkes to be part of our team, was super fit in his playing days and his teams have also been fit.

Im lovin Sheensie though, unlike many on here and hope he stays for as long as he wants.

IMO we have the best plays in the comp.

Thats about it Simon.

Folkes has always had big forwards who were very fit in general not only for their size.

He brings a wealth of experience and another opinion and voice in the mix which can only be good

Simon - to be honest I really hope you're wrong with simmons being seen as Sheens' successor.

Folkes opens up a lot of options for WT to consider next year which I think is a smart move. It puts pressure on Sheens to perform (something he never seems to have had) as well as putting pressure on Gentle to show his true credentials.
It will also bring a brand new viewpoint from someone who has the credentials to actually have that viewpoint listened to by Sheens. When Folkes has an opinion different to Sheens' I doubt Sheens will dismiss it as lightly as an opinion held by the garden gnome.

As strength/ conditioning coach he'll bring a new set of eyes to our injury management regime. That seems to be an area we've handled badly over the last few seasons. Players returning too early are aggravating problems rather than letting themselves heal properly and thats really hurt us.

And last but not least he's a proven forwards coach who gets top quality consistent performances out of the big blokes up front. Got to be happy with that!

Top work Mr Humphries!
