Steve Folkes v Cherry Mescia

Just asked peoples thoughts that's all. I love Folksey, don't get me wrong, but Cherry is a guru as well. I agree that we were definitely very fit in the back end of 2010\. Bryce Gibbs fitness levels in the Dragons game is something I will never forget, but I am just wondering where we really stack up on the endurance side of things compared to other sides. I am interested in this topic because for example Beau Champion said the Storm train much harder than what Souths do with much more intensity. Hindmarsh says the same about Parra under Kearney and Parra do look super fit.
Just wondering that's all.

I did not mean to make this a Folkes v Mescia thread. Love them both.

Well interestingly enough, although always praising Folkes, I have never heard one of them say that he trains them harder than what Mescia did.

If you check my history I have always rated Mescia - & questioned those who believed Folkes was/is the be-all and end-all of conditioners!!!

But this remains a dumb subjective query with no genuine rational basis for either side of the argument!!!

2+2 does not equal a simple 4 in this scenario!!!

It is more complex than the simple mind that created this thread!!!!!

Sheens is usually at the forefront of bringing new methods into the NRL and the Tigers training facilities have certainly improved since Folkes came on board. Humphreys invested in some state of the art training equipment for the Tigers including their new altitiude chamber. While the team was flat as a tack against the Eels, I've got no doubt they're as fit, if not fitter than last season.

Once the season starts and the Tigers training regime is scaled back accordingly, I reckon we'll see the benefits. Farah said it wasn't necessarily a bad thing that the Tigers did nothing but tackle for the first 20 minutes against the Eels, that sort of work gets the match fitness up quick.

Cherry Mescia was our conditioner. He went to the Roosters in 2010\. Steve Folkes got his WT job. In the 4 games that WT played the Roosters last year they came over the top of us at the end if each game. **They had fresher legs.**
We looked cumbersome against the Eels the other night. I love Folkes as a coach but is he up to it as a trainer these days ?

wow, so we lost 4 games because of conditioning?

it didnt have anything to do with ANY other factors - it was conditioning?

please…

We lost 2 of our matches last year because of bad/biased refereeing. The first at Campbeltown when Ryan was taken out without the ball and the second in the semi when we weren't awarded a penalty from the scrum.

Folkes had us fit last year and offers way more coaching ability than Mescia. I am glad we have Steve Folkes at our club.
