Steve Georgallis joins the Wests Tigers

I always hoped that an ex wests player or tiger would end up as coach.We had the successful wayne Pearce period and the not so successful lamb period.Someone who could instill a bit of old fashioned spirit in the joint.

Jason Taylor and Paul Langmack were two possibilities.However Langmack couldn't cut it and Taylor proved to not be a people's person.

Great to have Georgie back at the club.

I wonder why cherry mescia knocked back the conditioning job- i wonder who he had a fallout with?

i wouldn't call the Wayne Pearce period successful

Nor would I get excited about a Reserve grade coach who has inherited a short term role.

In organisations, a new boss coming in often sacks his existing middle managers (ie coach) to eliminate any pre-existing loyalties with the workers (ie players).

That way there is less of an opportunity for the team to turn against the new boss.

Happened at Qantas and Telstra.

Ok, i dont want this to get into a bagging of Steve. I think Ink summed it up well. For me, he was very predictable. He did the same thing everytime he ran the ball,…....got to the line and stepped at the same time he threw a dummy. He was quite limited. But in saying that, he had a red hot go and i always admired him. I'd say he would make an ok hooker, but was not skillfull enough for the halves, too small for lock and too slow for the centres.

King Sirro just remember the guy had a knee reconstruction which kept him out of the game for a long time at the Roosters before he came to Maggies . He lost a lot of speed which was which he was noted for which did limit him as you said . But he was a 1000% competitor every week

The deal is he will join us next year as assistant unless he is offered a Head Coach position with another club, only in Australia I'm pretty sure. With the Dogs chasing hard for Ricky Stuart (Greenberg said they'd interview around a dozen people?!), and clubs like Souths, Warriors, Newcastle and the Dragons already finalising their coaches for 2012, chances are he'll be with us.

What period was that?….Pearce did nothing for the WT as coach...they were top 2 for most of the year then faltered badly...

Not surprising considering that Wests Tigers itself hasn't announced anything at all regarding the topic and obviously won't this week with the club in Kiama and with us playing Penrith.

The media and penrith are the one's telling us its a done deal but why should we announce something if the get out clause gets activated before he even turns up.

i'd say the get out clause will be pretty common place nowadays with assistant coaches especially with the ones that have FG experience eg. Stone, Elliott, Dymock (if he doesn't get the full time gig) and Georgalis.
