He's what… 24? Why not just do what any mature normal human being would do and forget about it and move on?
Fancy using the biggest stage of the year to air a petty grudge over two years old, what a disgrace... He and Manly are a great fit.
He's foolhardy to think that attempting to intimidate the NRL CEO will work in his favour. Hoping he does something stupid again so Gallop can rub him out for even longer. He can count himself lucky to have even played in the Grand Final. If anyone else did what he did against Melbourne, they'd have been marched for at least six weeks.

I don't believe Brett blew up at David on the podium. Gallop is nodding his head before saying "well done" and Thodey? is next to both of them, listening, smiling and nodding. Neither seemed to shocked or upset at what Brett was saying.
Brett was upset because Gallop hung him out to dry. No matter what the NRL say, he was suspended because of the allegations, how many players since have been involved in alcohol related dramas, and how many have been suspended by the NRL for them? That said, Brett would have been over it all a lot quicker had Manly not brought it all up again every 5 minutes.

If Stewart is so unhappy with Gallop and the NRL, why doesn't he just go and play in England? He won't be missed…

The clubs own report is what brought him down and their failure to reprimand him forced the NRL's hand.
He should have moved on a long time ago, instead of crapping on about an issue that everyone would have forgotten about if he and his coach stopped bringing it up.

If the NRL does nothing in this circumstance, there is public outcry for sitting idly by, why the face of the game has brought the game into disrepute, whether what he did was illeagal is irrelevant. At the time there were articles claiming the penalty was too light.
A 4 week suspension is nothing. move on, get over it.

When it comes to the night in question Stewart was also thrown out of a night club for his behaviour
The NRL had to send a message to the players that this type of behaviour can't be tolerated by the stars of the game Especially the "Face of League"
I just can't understand why the clubs don't open up special areas for the players to drink unharassed at their own league clubs

Gallop jumped the gun with the suspension. This should have been dealt by the Manly club and thats it. Imagine if this was one of our players and I guarantee you people wont be saying the things you are saying now. So a 4 game suspension for being drunk is the correct penalty is it? What did Whatmough get for this same offence and abusing a sponsor while trying to crack on to his daughter?

Gallop did not get it wrong. He got a report from Manly stating he was intoxicated and asked to leave the premises at a club sponsored function. What was he supposed to do? Stewart and Manly caused damage to the game and the NRL had to act. Gallop owes him an apology? How about the Manly Football Club provide an apology to him first. They provided the free alcohol and they chose not to suspend him forcing the NRL's hand. I still believe if they suspended him for 2 weeks, the NRL would not have stepped in.
Regardless, how stupid is both Stewart and Manly? Just won a competition, the club is probably at its highest value with regard to sponsorship, and his actions just drag this issue even further. What sponsor would want to come near them? Personally, I think it is great because Manly (and Cronulla) are riding on the sacrifices made for the betterment of the game by Wests, Balmain, Norths etc. They should not be allowed to stand alone in the competition playing out of Brookvale and I would love nothing more than to see them fold. However, it is now clear the club does not have any control over its employees and protecting its brand. he should have been instructed before the game how to deal with Gallop.
Stewart received damages from the Telegraph ($250,000). He was not guilty and it was all unfortunate, but then if he did the right thing and not cheat on his then girlfriend, all that garbage would never had occurred. It is about taking responsibility for your actions.
