Well, what does one say. I have been a pretty high-level coach, but seriously there is something wrong in defensive coaching. Tamou could not lead a starving dog to a packet of open Smacko's.
I have not paid much attention to who is the defensive coach. He is the first sacking
1.Nobody takes them up quickly,
2. Nobody is coached to cover the back pocket of the ruck
3. Luciano, every week makes bad reads, he also NEVER has passed the ball. He is too slow for being on the edge.
4. The backs, because the defensive pattern in the first three plays is so bad, are put under enormous pressure from an attacking pack that makes 40 meters in three plays.
5. Mbye however is just shocking at defence. Not first grade at all.
6. For all the knockers, go and watch the game again. If the Jet was not on the field it would have been 90 points. His defense was frantic sometimes. Still have not seen him being passed the ball in a back-line move yet or with any room to move. But agree we don't make the 8 next year with him in the side.
7. Liddel is not our future.
8. Garner is lazy in defense in plugging the hole behind the ruck
9. Nofa is a poor defender. Has been for years. We don't win a comp in 3 years time with him playing
10. Tamou got 30 minutes of game time more than he deserved again
11. Brookes tried but only has one person in motion all the time as options.
12 Still.............looking at the draw and putting this game in the bin...........we can still make the eight.

I agree with number 3 in a big way. he stops the ball getting to jtj, and as such jtj has no early ball with which to do what he's paid to do. instead he gets late ball and cuts down his attacking effectiveness

our kick chase is rancid

our defensive perssure is non existent

everything effort related is terrible. kick/chase, pressure on the kicker line speed.

The other thing that kills us is that there is no 2nd phase play or offloads until we are being by 20.

I would say that most of these are as much on the coaching staff as they are the players.

Yep, a lot of good points in the OP. Totally agree on point 7 - Liddle is not the answer. And yet we just re-signed him, and I ask again… why? Because he was the best available known commodity? Great, we signed the best of a bad bunch. A better option would be to to take a punt on a kid coming through who has a blocked path to first grade… if he doesn’t work out, keep trying till you find a talent worthy enough to keep long term. Liddle is not that guy.

Liddle was not too bad tonight the whole side was terrible but think simpkin needs to come back to bench as liddle can't play 80 season gone so start giving simpkin some game time from the bench

Spot on mate, it’s dead set ugly. It’s like we tried to recruit guys who can’t tackle.
