OFFICIAL STREAMING FINDS and RECOMENDATIONS

Took the younguns to the Super Mario Bros flick today.
I’m not a big gamer by any stretch, but certainly played some of the Mario and Donkey Kong games over the years and picked up a lot of the nostalgia nods. A lot of the original game soundtracks were re-worked into the movie soundtrack and were great.
What a fun movie! Bonkers and entertaining….the kids loved it.
I can see why this is making so much money at the box office. No woke messaging, no hidden agendas being pushed…just a silly, well made and funny action flick. Good stuff 👍🏼

Mad.

I'm going to see it on a Sunday.
Heard it's got some good music.

Good review.
Got me keen now.

Have to agree with everything you said Tucker, took the grandkids last Sunday, was very very refreshing to see a movie in current year that didn't have propaganda force feed down your throat. Nintendo being heavily involved from a country where the woke ideology is not welcome is a pretty big reason why its just a movie and not some trash mass produced from Hollywood where movies can now only be greenlight with all the woke boxes ticked. Went in half expecting Mario to be African, Luigi to be a disabled dwarf and Princess Peach actually a dude with pro nouns Prosecute/Fauci. Leaves little doubt why movies that are just that, entertaining like they should be, do great at the box office.

Wonder why every movie of late has an agenda and its only going to get more full on and the quality of movies will continue to tank? Its 100% driven by the industry.

New inclusion requirements as of 2024
Beginning in 2024, eligibility for the Best Picture Oscar will be subject to new representation and inclusion requirements announced by the Academy in September 2020. To qualify for consideration, films will have to meet diversity standards covering race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability.

Pretty much if these boxes aren't ticked above, a movie will not be able to be made anymore. 90% of everything from Hollywood will be doing this for the clout. Just like all the big corporations that don't really give two shits but put a rainbow on their twitter logo once a year, while their products are made in sweat shops and African cobalt mining from child/slave labour, but ya know, they put a rainbow or a BLM fist in their logo, so its cool.

The good thing is audiences are awake to it.
Just about everything coming out of Disney currently is flopping. Their shows are dreadful and their feature films are losing tens if not hundreds of millions each.
Great to see.

Not sure if it was an April fools joke but I read a couple of weeks ago that they are going to do another Star Wars movie with Daisy Ridley. Another massive fail incoming. 💯

We need someone to have enough balls to produce another Tropic Thunder type movie

It was a very good movie. I had a NES and was about 7 years old when Mario was first huge. The nod back to all the games I played growing up and the tie ins were fantastic.

My son is 7 now and has played everything back when I was his age to now. He was absolutely stoked watching it.

I suspect this is largely because Shigeru Miyamoto (aka Mario's dad,) was the exec producer. He was super gunshy about another Mario movie after the 93 one.

My boys had no idea who Mario was even a week ago.
I had to convince them that they’d like it lol.
They now want to buy a Nintendo system….

You can get those all in ones now with pretty much the whole Nintendo library on them for bugger all.

This goes for 18 minutes (and the whole interview is interesting), but the point is basically made in the first 3; Unfortunately, we live in an age where movie studios can't afford to "offend" anyone and as a result we get incredibly mundane, dumbed down movies.

*oops. Did the double reply thing! 🤪
