OFFICIAL STREAMING FINDS and RECOMENDATIONS

Has anyone spent the time to watch the Hindi movie on Netflix currently called RRR?
It’s a Bollywood action adventure thriller drama horror and is also a laugh riot. Never seen anything like it….cringey as hell, yet has awesome action sequences and is quite dark at times, whilst making you bust a gut at its ridiculousness.
I’m undecided if it’s the worst film I’ve ever seen…or the best. Certainly one of the most entertaining and that’s a big call as the bastard goes for over 3 hours 🤣.
RRR…crazy epic fun.

bollywood is out there happy weirdness
Yeah the two male leads are the hardest characters you’ve ever seen. They’d eat John Wick and Jason Bourne and Rambo etc for brekkie.
They also do a 10 minute choreographed dance routine in the middle of the movie for some reason? 🤣 and have the most campy relationship you’re ever likely to see as well. Crazy 😆

the ladies n the gents both know how to shake it. their music is great

He's a good kid. Loves doing gardening (planting food.)
Lol... Read our of context my comment sounds terrible!

Obviously, by saying it's a shame it's come to this I was referring to the supposition that the norm for kids these days is not to be as outgoing and outdoorsy as your son, and that it is awesome he bucks that tend.

... I'm sure you got my meaning, but just in case! 🤣

Years ago I worked with an Indian guy who recommended me a movie called Lagaan.

It was about the locals playing the imperialist Brits in a game of cricket for the village or something. It goes for like 4 hours! 😳

Strangely, I watched the whole thing... 🤔

Wouldn't recommend a movie that long to anyone with any signs of life, so I will say the one thing I remember is when drought breaking rain came, the whole village (including the most evil characters everyone hated!) were all singing and dancing! Lol... It was just bizarre!

Like one minute there's this massive animosity and the next, as soon as it rains, they're singing and dancing together! 🤣

Going to have to check RRR out though. Sounds weird. 😜

RRR is a great watch, Bollywood/Tollywood has awesome films to just get brain numbed to and watch. Bit of a fan of Indian films, they still know how to do it right.

Pure braindead action films. Perfect

Their last massive failure grossed $1 bill. It's a license to make money.
Was always going to do well based off its name, Just imagine how much it could have made if they didn't actively try to kill the franchise. They left squillions on the table. Die-hards would have actually gone to see it or went more than once in the cinema. Instead they panned it for being woke crap.

Yep, the guy in the vid I posted specifically uses it as his example of a great franchise that has become unwatchable. Shame.

Meh, I'm a die-hard and went multiple times. Loved them.

Unwatchable? $1bill gross. I
think a coupke of people watched it.

Paraphrasing him - not my words. He's the expert and I said that it was the example he used....

I think I've not seen the last couple of Star Wars movies, so I can't comment personally.

But I never said no one watched it, nor did I make any reference to its profitability.

Which in itself is the issue:
Studios can make absolute crap and millions of people will pay to watch it. I'd hazard a guess a large reason it made a $1billion profit was a hell of a lot of people just wanted more Star Wars and/or just really wanted to love it.

It also benefits from a legendary franchise where people have the whole set and have to add to it.

The Simpsons has been terrible since forever and it's still going because the actual quality of the show no longer even matters due to how much it still makes off merchandise and such.

Fwiw, I think Avatar is the most dumbed down, cliched piece of rubbish that is the epitome of a completely derivative and mind numbing (however long it goes for) experience that is nothing more than something pretty to look at whilst in a catatonic state.

And I've seen it; so I have contributed to it's being the highest growing movie of all time and I think it's utter shit!

They almost all are these days. 😦

And to be fair - I've got the first 6 blue ray box set.

Apart from Attack of the Clones and bloody Jar Jar, they were good. Was surprised at Revenge of the Sith actually, but Empire Strikes Back is definitely the best.
Woke and just shitty, lazy, pathetic writing. Cash cow is all they cared about. What they did to the Luke character in the woke trilogy is straight up criminal and the director should have been sent to the The Hague for crimes against humanity. Fans had been waiting to see 'the chosen one' as an actual Jedi, the most powerful of all time and instead we got robbed, we got that, friggin that, a caretaker of some missing chromosome penguins. If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about they need their head read and to stop talking about Star Wars for the rest of their lives PERIOD

Exerts from internet forums regarding the garbage final trilogy and why they are so bad -

The moments that woke Star Wars lost its appeal for former Star Wars fans, and why?

"Not sure about the woke factor turning people off. It was more down to the absolutely awful scripts that had glaring plot holes and destroyed the very universe they wrote about.
Everyone involved should hang their heads in shame at the finale to the Skywalker saga.
It was a profound embarrassment."

"The sequels hit all the talking points of modern wokeness, which is accredited to the heavy hand of Kathleen Kennedy: All Men are basically stupid and bad, women are always right and super powerful just by their nature, capitalism is really Baaad, living in harmony with the environment in the woods is greaaat, native celebrations are sooo authentic, and probably some more that I did not catch."

"The issue is not the number of female (or ‘ethnic’) characters - it’s that those characters are badly written. Badly written characters are disliked. Dislike manifests criticism. Criticism of female characters is seen as being sexist.
Reality:
Rey is not a bad character because she is female - but because she is a Mary-Sue. She is a scavenger who suddenly knows how to fly better than Solo, can use the Force, can match Kylo in battle. If Luke had been an excellent pilot without explanation (wamp-rats and Beggar’s Canyon, etc.), exhibited his Force powers without training, then matched Vader the first time they fought, he wouldn’t have been the Luke we love."

"I'm still somewhat a fan, but I'm starting to lose hope in the future of Star Wars, and it's because of The Force Awakens. I was born in the early 80′s and my older brother got my hooked on Star Wars. I still remember watching the Television premier of Return of The Jedi. Then through the 90′s the video games, toys, and books kept my going. When The Prequels came out, I was taken back a little at first, but I was able to accept the film's as canon. They weren't perfect, but they fit.
Then the original whiny-fanboys started flaming the net with how Lucas ruined Star Wars ( he didn't ) the true culprit is Disney, Kennedy, and JJ-unoriginal hack Abrams.
I was excited when I heard Disney took over Star Wars…but also worried. My fears were confirmed when they trashed the EU, then came the announcement of Ep7. I followed it and despite JJ’s stupid ‘Mystery Box’ marketing gimmick, it was apparent the film was just going to be a copy n paste of New Hope. Of course people kept saying ‘It's not a reboot’ I tried giving it a chance, but the moment when I felt Star Wars was truly gone is when Star killer base fired and destroyed 5 planets. I was so disappointed I could help but shout out ‘[This word has been automatically removed] You JJ Abrams!!!’ Several times in the theater. And yes this was opening night when I saw it. And I'll tell you this, Noone told me at all to shut the hell up, even the fans who dressed up and cheered when Han and Chewie showed up. It was like I was speaking for everyone in the audience when I said that"

Why is there so much hatred for Star Wars now, especially from hardcore fans?
It primarily has to deal with how Disney/Lucasfilm handled the criticism. Instead of acknowledging and attempting to deal with the criticism, they opted to mock and ridicule the fans. Not exactly a smart thing to do.

There is the issue of the astonishing lack of planning on Lucasfilm’s part. It appears that they threw out Lucas’ treatments in it’s entirety and played it by ear as they went along. They had no overarching story. They had no script for all three movies. What we got was 3 radically different stories that largely fly in the face of the previous 6.

E7’s story was incredibly derivative of the original movie. Most of it marched in lockstep. It was unfortunate given everyone is familiar with the previous 6 films. The characters were intriguing enough and the general story was enough to work off of. Almost appeared to be that they had a plan. People were disappointed but had some hope.

E8 is where things went off the rails. A movie that should have never passed the earliest stages. The concept of the movie was the world’s slowest chase whose central plot device was…space fuel. This script should have been thrown in the trash from that point. The movie then subsequently dismantles every character we cared about and the story the previous movie created. The movie ends with the character everyone spent years waiting for dead, Carrie Fisher (who the next movie would center around) dead in real life, the main badguy dead…and a whole bunch of characters we really didn’t care about because we know nothing about them. A lot of people had criticism for the lack of Rey’s character development, the pointless inclusion of Rose, and Rian’s poor script. Instead of accepting criticism, they called everyone racist/sexist etc

E9 was given the unenviable task of creating and concluding a trilogy worth of material in a single movie directed by a man who never had to conclude a story in a satisfactory way in his life. It went about as well as we thought. Astonishingly enough, we ended up caring about Ben Solo…and they killed him in a very unsatisfactory way. They left Rey to “inherit” the franchise…and we still really don’t care much about it. Nowhere near the way we cared about Luke or Ben.

For me, I felt that Disney chose the wrong people. It was painfully obvious Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson hold the franchise in very low regard. I do believe that JJ Abrams is a fan of the franchise, but he doesn’t “understand Star Wars.” So we got 3 underwhelming and disappointing films.

I was expecting something like a DC animated film/show. Something that had passion, love and understanding for the material/franchise. What we got was a DC live action film. Something that was soulless and corporate made by people who had to respect or understand of franchise/material. It showed.

Fast forward to The Mandalorian. The show wasn’t perfect by any means but it felt like Star Wars. I believed it was written/created/directed by people that have an understanding/appreciation/passion for Star Wars. Good lord, they were able to convey more character and emotions from a guy wearing a tin can and a green puppet that the previous 5 movies that had over a billion dollars invested making were able to do.

Probably the worst thing about The Mandalorian is that it gave me hope. Hope that this franchise can be saved and has a future. We’ll see what happens. There is obviously a lot going on behind the curtain that we are not privy too. Before The Mandalorian, the franchise looked like it was a sinking ship. The last movie made about half what the first did and they had a movie that lost money. The franchise was on a physical downward slope.

This goes for 18 minutes (and the whole interview is interesting), but the point is basically made in the first 3; Unfortunately, we live in an age where movie studios can't afford to "offend" anyone and as a result we get incredibly mundane, dumbed down movies.

*oops. Did the double reply thing! 🤪

All of Chris Gore's interviews on that youtube channel are a great watch, very non woke and not afraid to tell it how it is in reality. Very refreshing in an ever increasing era of forced or self imposed censorship to go with the current in thing.
