A 90 per cent completion rate in the second half and repeat sets is what pleased Wests Tigers Head Coach Tim Sheens in tonight’s 14-12 win over Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.

In front of a crowd of 20,059, Wests Tigers overcame a 12-0 deficit at half-time to produce another fine second half performance to take the vital two competition points to remain in seventh place on the Telstra Premiership ladder.

Wests Tigers completed 18 of 20 sets in the second half.

Sheens said he was proud of his players for standing up to the aggressive Manly pack.

“There was a lot of hype about it during the week about who was going to bully who and at the end of the day, I think the side held together well and three wins in row is a little bit of momentum,’’ Sheens said.

“It would be nice if it was the last round going into the semis. I would have loved it. But 5 games to go, we are still giving it a shake.

“But we fell apart in the first half and that worried me.”

Captain Robbie Farah said the side would enjoy the win but knows there is still plenty of hard work to do ahead of next Friday night’s blockbuster against premiers St George Illawarra Dragons at the Sydney Football
Stadium.

“We knew the last 2 weeks were good wins but tonight was always going to be a step up for us,’’ Farah said.

“It was always going to be a good test to see how we were travelling.

“After 12-0 down, we showed a bit of character to come back in that game. But the job is not done.

“We’ve got the Dragons next week and four tough games after that so we are not in a position where we can relax.”
