Suggestion

The boards have only been really active again for a couple of weeks now and already I see so much bickering and antagonism between users. I know it's probably a forlorn hope but if I could encourage some users, this season, to think twice before posting insults to other people we will have a much happier forum. I know some of us aren't always as right as others but it is possible to disagree with good form rather than ridicule and name calling. I'd just like to see a more peaceful forum. After all we all the support the same club. Just think twice before hurling insults is all.

Just a suggestion.

Don't mind a good ol bicker now and then mate , can we nominate a bicker day where we can have free for alls

I'm hearing you Macdougall… It would be a very harmonious place if this was to be, but I think it is a long way off from reality.

We all type differently... Sometimes this gets read differently... and then we always feel the need to justify some responses or simply question some of the comments.

I feel sometimes when people have a crack at users, those users should have the right of reply/respond. While we try to moderate some of the content, sometimes we also cant moderate based off a single post and we need to leave some poor comments within the context of the conversation. [only if they are not vial]

Lets hope one day we can all see our Team through similar glasses, and cheer them on to greatness with a similar voice!

Its a pipe dream on this forum.

Some people claim they don't care what people think yet painstakingly go about ensuring everyone is brow beaten with their opinion. Happens on every forum I guess.

I don't mean to suggest we're gonna have a happy forum filled with love and kisses but if a few of our more aggressive posters stopped to think twice about having a dig at a less intellectual user it would be nicer to be here.

Shall we see you taking your own advice MacDougal?

Have you become a born again Christian or some crap?

Thanks for the laugh man…needed that!

Haha nah I just get pangs of politeness on occasion that come and go but yes of course I will take my own advice. I can't see how thinking twice before hitting the submit button is such a bad idea.

Theirs a big difference between passion and abuse. Iam all for defending my point of view but when things get personal and end up in a slinging match thats when I turn off the computer.

I think its great we can look at the same game and come up with so many different views on how the game panned out.

Anyway a nice idea but it will not happen, very hard to teach old dogs new tricks

lol why won't it happen? I am not asking for anybody to stop being jerks I am just asking for people to think twice… if it stops half a dozen insults throughout the year its worth it...

I suggested a seperate thread last year called the thunderdome where we are allowed to take the gloves off…wasnt met with the greatest of enthusiasm  ....

I think the mods do a good job of making sure that no-one on here gets away with crossing the line of being too abusive or intimidating.

But c'mon, surely people can have a debate and fire up a bit…we all have opinions that are different to others on here. If we are all forced into nodding our heads in agreement at every single thing someone else says then it would be a very sterile and TBH bloody boring place on the WT Forum.

Maybe if people are not mature enough to handle a bit of heated debate (within the guidelines of course) then perhaps they should re-think coming on here IMO.

Its all about being able to disagree, sometimes passionately disagree, and still have an open and friendly environment in here.

Nothing wrong with aspiring towards that IMO.

This isnt bad.
Bad was a long time ago

Some time back, several years ago, I recall on these & other RL boards in its various forms some very aggressive arguments and PM's, people being threatened with violence, invititations to meet behind grandstands at games to settle differences, racial abuse, family abuse lots of other nasty stuff

I think the Mods constant and consistent enforcement of the rules over several years, that are in place here have seen this place improve dramatically to a state where most of the time its very pleasant here….
