Jahream Bula - A natural, no matter what sport he plays in. Given what he has shown to date, are we any chance or retaining him? From what I understand he is contracted until the end of the 2025 season so, with Api, 2/3 of what we need (in the spine) already.
If others stay, like Blore (contracted to end 24?), Papali'i, Funaki, Doueihi, then perhas there is a glimmer of hope. Maybe this season should be seen as the one where the wipe the slate clean (yes, I know, yet again) with the club also deciding who shoud coach.
I don't think that to continue with Sheens is viable. And I also don't think that the coaching merry go round is any better that serving yesterday's soup, to be honest.
In this day and age, 12 months in any job is long enough to prove yourself, in a professional sport. No saying you make the 8's, but at the very least you show improvement on last year (not hard to do when you have the spoon anyway). At the moment, the combo Sheens/Marshall is clearly not working. There should be no shame in admitting it, and say that, yet again, we got it wrong. Only those that don't have a go never make mistakes. But there also comes a time (eg for the board) to step aside - Errare humanum est, sed in errare perseverare diabolicum.
Finally, the grass isn't any greener with clubs that have invested big (see Dogs) or were "expected" to make the eight (see Roosters). Yes, we should be concerned about our own club, but perhaps with this in mind the ongoing self-flagellation can feel a little less painful. It's a strange competition this year, but a deja vu for us West Tigers supporters.
