OFFICIAL Sunia "Tito" Turuva #293

We lose a lot because he's got 0 ball-playing ability. It's why he was playing centre and To'a as fullback/closer to the ruck in attacking zones.

Tito's a good winger and he's fine as mid-game cover if your fullback goes down. He's not a full-time fullback however.
Nailed it.
I’m loving him at our club. He’s been great, and worth his money. He’s a winger, and a goer of a footballer, so gives his best in any position. But he’s a winger.

Bula is easily the better all-round fullback no question.

Turuva yardage game has been great, once back on the wing he needs to come in and do more of that - no reason why he can't/shouldn't from the wing.
Turuva and Skelton gun wing pairing

T May and Mak in the centres

Turuvas numbers might not be as good as May, but Turuva has made stronger and tougher carries. He gets a better PTB, draws a penalty and not to mention at the start of the year, he converted every half chance into points.
his direct runs have been massive he must be hard to tackle because he’s been hit “high” a few times now that’s been converted into penalties, which has been so helpful

His head is like a magnet when it comes to high contact.

He's worth at least a penalty a game, should be a player stat. 🤣

Turuva gets hit high a lot .....more than any other player in the NRL

Guys like Turuva and Tedesco who run with a low centre of gravity have benefited from the NRL's zero tolerance for high tackles. In the past, the refs would've disregarded incidental contact to the head especially where the attacking player has lowered their posture, but that's no longer a mitigating factor. It's only a matter of time before teams start playing for penalties by aping that running style.

I wonder if bula doesn’t want to stay , would we lose much with Turuva as our fullback , he has been great .
I really think Centers and Wings are undervalued.
Incredibly undervalued.

Toa has said working with Turuva has really improved his game. knowing when to move in, move out and holding the line.

It's the biggest difference from 2024, we have a backline that occasionally does their job. Toa/Turuva's side has been ok and we have been chopping and changing AD/Skelton.

I would not want Turuva going fullback because he is far more valuable in his current position. He helps keep our back line in order so we don't leak 40+ points.

Turuva's defence is so good on the wing. You just have to play him there. No longer must we be subjected to the David Nofoalumas of this world racing in off the wing to tackle air, only to then blame your team mates for the try.

It’s safe to say most of us did not predict just how dynamic and impactful he would be.
Speed, finishing, hitups, attitude. All absolutely top class.

We talk about May, Api, Pole every week and the same guys mostly feature in the 3,2,1.

But this guy has been so bloody impressive. His go forward, effect on the team and the scoreboard is not spoken about enough nor rated near as highly as it should.

And I’m going to call it. If he plays like this for a couple of seasons, he will easily be in the discussion for best wingers we have ever had.
Huge call Bigsiro

But it's a good one. I rate Turuva.

Yet we actually had some damn awesome wingers:
Pat Richards
Moroibete
Lote Tuqiri
Nofo (in selective years..)

and of course: Taniela Tuiaki

But yea, Turuva is making a run for the board.
