Bradford Bulls caused something of a boilover when they defeated the Castleford Tigers away from Odsal Stadium in the only upset win of the weekend, newly promoted Widnes Vikings were on the wrong end of a hiding going down by 60 points to the Huddersfield Giants, Super League Premiers the Leeds Rhinos appear to be a shadow of their former shelves after Wigan Warriors scored a comfortable win and with the Rhinos facing up against Manly in the World Club Challenge there could be a very lop sided score line.
Wakefield Wildcats went down to Hull Kingston Rovers at home, Warrington Wolves scored an impressive win over the London Broncos while St Helens at their new Stadium easily accounted for the Salford City Reds, the game in Perpignan between the Catalan Dragons and Hull FC was called off due to the ground being frozen, it's nearly Spring over there!.
Castleford Tigers 12 Bradford Bulls 20, Huddersfield Giants 66 Widnes Vikings 6, Wigan Warriors 20 Leeds Rhinos 6, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 10 Hull KR 22, Warrington Wolves 50 London Broncos 10, St Helens 38 Salford City Reds 10.
In the Minor Leagues the games were also affected by the weather with only 4 Northern Rail Cup games being played and just 2 in the early stages of the Challenge Cup getting underway. Keighley Cougars 16 went down to the Batley Bulldogs in Pool A of the NRC while in the other Pool A game saw the Dewsbury Rams 6 disappointing against the Halifax RLFC 36, Pool B saw the Leigh Centurions 48 score a comfortable win over the Barrow Raiders 16 and Workington Town 14 go down to the Sheffield Eagles 28.
The Minnows in the Challenge cup saw Millom 20 defeat the British Police 10 and the Egremont Rangers 22 topple the Bank Quay Bulls 16\. Hopefully the weather improves enough for a full round to go ahead this weekend.

Mid week games from the Northern Rail Cup and Challenge Cup were played during the week, these games had been deferred owing to the big freeze in the UK.
In the NRC Pool A saw the once mighty Oldham Roughyeds outclassed by Featherstone Rovers 68 - 0, Pool B saw Gateshead Thunder host Doncaster RLFC and again the home side was on the wrong end of the score board with the resurgent Dons who have former Hull FC great Paul Cooke in their side prevail 48 - 10 and in the other match the ambitious Hunslet Hawks defeated the once great Whitehaven side from Cumbria 34 - 18.
Challenge Cup games had 2 games from the previous Sunday which I did not have the results for with Blackbrook springing a surprise over Eccles & Salford Juniors 18 - 8 and Wigan St Cuthberts 24 beating the academics from Northumbria University 18.
Wednesday had an exciting encounter between the Normanton Knights 32 just pipping the Milford Marlins 30 and Castleford Lock Lane 24 just edging out Elland RLFC 18, the weather is clearing, it's only rain at the moment.
