It does seem to have a fair feel of media beat-up to it. Yes the boys did wrong, were stupid and interrupted others preparations but I'm not sure they have to be apologizing to the public and the media. Swimming is such a lonely sport and not a financially rewarding one either. We the public demand these swimmers to win gold medals but in the end it comes down to being the best on the day and that won't always be the strongest swimmer.
The bit about Leigh Nugent was a little worrying and I'm sure that's how this issue has been able to rise into what it is.
I think I'm just over this story. These guys should have been disciplined in London or a month or two afterwards. I think this has more to do with the leadership and culture of swimming rather then these 6 boys.
