Tahu gone missing

Sensitive lot of Forum members we have here haven't we, footballers aren't immune from suffering any of the problems that everyday people face.
Remember the demons that Peter Jackson privately faced, it wasn't until the details came out after his death of the torment he went through and Tahu has had a troubled upbringing and with the pressure he has faced with the allegation he obviously is having having time off to come to terms with things, sensitivity please people.

The guy stands on a soapbox during the Andrew Johns racial slur which wasn't even directed at him, then when the going gets tough for the team he pushes his own agenda as opposed to the agenda of the team and bags out administration and staff, THEN wonders why players, fans and media turns on him when he gets caught up in his own racial slur…. IMHO the worlds smallest violin is playing for him...

The guy is the typical type of "can dish it, but can't take it" bloke, the worst type of player.

Even the grub Slater can cop plenty in return despite his dirty tactics, he's a tough bugger, where Tahu is softer than a well-worn bean bag.

Pfft….he took off telling no one to go play footy...if he can play he can train with his team.

Let's look at his past….. swears he'll never go to union, week later signs with the Waratahs. Bags the tripe out of league and swears he'll never come back, re-signs with Parramatta. Walks out on of the NSW State of Origin team after Andrew Johns refers to Greg Inglis as a "Black C!@#" and wants to make an example of Johns which had nothing to do with him but then calls an Aboriginal minor the very same name. Wasn't good enough for the Aussie team so he hides in New Zealand with the Maori team to escape his own racial vilification issues. When he can't hide in New Zealand anymore he does a runner from Parramatta because of all the media attention that he brought upon himself.

Timana Tahu bagged this game while at Union, tried to destroy the reputation of one of the games greats and racially vilified an Aboriginal minor while Peter Jackson brought himself down and didn't include anyone else in his problems. To compare Timana Tahu to Peter Jackson who kept his off field issues private is like comparing apples to oranges.

Agree mostly Chris.

Except the part about A. Johns having a reputation that can be lowered any further than the man has himself throughout his career. Besides the drug use there was the fact that every time he wanted money he publicly held the code to ranson with threats of Union defection

Tahu has made a spectacle of himself and made thrust himself into the spotlight every step of the way. He made paraded himself as a martyr for what Joey Johns said and then when he did the same he attracted the very same attention.

Anyone with an ounce grey matter would know if you're championing against racism, you wouldn't let slip with a gaffe like that.

Just saw footage of Tahu playing that charity match on fox sports.

He certainly wasnt showing any 'charity' in one of the tackles! If my memory is right I think there was an elbow involved when the guy was on the ground.

He used to be a wonderfully talented attacking player - but in recent years he thinks he is some kind of a hit-man/enforcer on the field and his tackling has become reckless and thuggish!

He did exactly the same thing at the Koori knock-out - headhunting opponents, lifting his knee and throwing elbows in almost every tackle!

There is something to be said for playing angry in some cases (if you can control it) - but as I said in my initial post - this bloke has lost the plot!

His wife was quoted as saying he needs the break until "hopefully after christmas" because he is tired after a big year! What bollocks!! He hardly played in 2008 - so he started 2009 on very fresh legs!!

And he did not seek permission from his club to play in the charity match - lesser players have been sacked for this!!!

That wasnt the charity game…it was from the Aboringinal Knockout earlier in the year. But your right...he did drop an elbow.

Channel 9 just broke the story that Tahu will be let go by the Eels today.

In the online Tele as well

I hope the $300 K they just freed up stays well away from Chris L

if he sorts himself out, then good on him.
if not, the game continues to move forward, and new talent will will be discovered.

Osborne says Tahu will not be returning to the the club anytime soon, and he faces a reduced contract

if he is to remain at the Eels, as he will have missed four months training.

There always seems to be something very strange going on at Parra. They seem to constantly have players walking out due to emotional reasons (Tahu, Smith, Lyon, …). Then you constantly hear about former greats such as Price, Kenny, ... fighting to pull the club in one direction or another. Bizarre...

If you were in Parramatta for any reason you'd find you eventually inherit emotional issues…...
