When you look at their resumes you’d think the ones already on the board will be so far out of their depth that it’s not funny.
Charlie Viola’s company alone is worth $2.5 billion… he definitely knows money and how to make it.

I believe Viola manage $2.5B in assets, they aren't themselves worth $2.5B.

Best thing about Charlie's involvement is that it may offer longer-term players an investment edge even past football, so it's certainly something that can be used as a carrot and edge in players negotiations.

Yes. Some don't understand how finance companies work. The $2.5b is owned by other people/organisations etc

I'm quite comfortable giving Wests and Balmain a seat each on a board that has a majority of independents. Juniors are a big part of our future, particularly home-grown juniors, and they come from the Wests and Balmain junior leagues. So it seems to me they're entitled to a seat on the board.

Can you imagine Charlie talking about generating funds in a board meeting and Burgess chiming in with a 'we could do a sausage sizzle'!

I'm fine with them being temporary placeholders but the reps from HBG and Balmain should all possess certain relevant skills as defined in the matrix.

HBG having 2 reps on the board and a third being a close ally already gives them significant leverage.

Exactly can work well. I used to work at an AFL club that had a similar member/fan committee in place and from I saw it worked well in providing a fan voice and also input in future key decisions.

From what I've just read on the Podcast Forum, @Joel Helmes @cochise Steve & Kelly are on a group of 7 for this in its infancy which is great news & well deserved.

Whatever the fan group is it should be opened up to all members to apply for. Just because someone runs a podcast doesn't make their opinions more valid than another members. Yes it shows passion and dedication for the club, but there are still many others with something to offer and the group should provide a mix of opinions and backgrounds.

Time to move on i guess, we wanted the independent's appointed according the the review. My preference would be to see Romero and Burgess moved on, but that may happen in time.

Historic day for the club, well done to HBG on following through on the promised appointments.

On the surface, looks like a good mix of experience among the independents.

I’d also like to express a personal opinion that if this board proves effective and consistently operates primarily for the benefit of the Wests Tigers then I’m happy with the mix that includes a Magpies, Balmain and HBG rep.

Whatever the fan group is it should be opened up to all members to apply for. Just because someone runs a podcast doesn't make their opinions more valid than another members. Yes it shows passion and dedication for the club, but there are still many others with something to offer and the group should provide a mix of opinions and backgrounds.

The FRG is in its infancy and is still just finding its feet (first official meeting next week). Watch this space re further announcements in time.

The chair has to be one of the independent directors.

Yep. The Chair is one of the board members. The person who runs the meetings.

The board should select it. So this is the right process.

Going on recent history both reps for Balmain/wests will likely negate each other
