True but Lidcombe wasn't the regular venue until 1962, prior to that there was only 7 games at Lidcombe the first in 1941.

By the way from 1908 to 1999 Western Suburbs played 246 games at Lidcombe (August 31, 1941 - August 31, 1986) and 345 at Pratten Park (August 24, 1912 - August 18, 1985).

I was going to say "from 1908 to 1999 the Magpies played" but they weren't the Magpies until the late 1920's so corrected it to Western Suburbs.

And before the Wests were Magpies, Wests were referred to as the Cherry Pickers or Fruit Pickers.
Still a great history.

I sometimes slip and refer to the Bulldogs as the Berries too.
The Glebe Dirty Reds sound brilliant, but mixed up often with the Drummoyne Rugby club.
And not to forget the Newtown Bluebags, before they became the Jets.
And back in 1908, as a foundation club, the Newcastle Rebels existed before they became the Knights.
Likewise, the Cumberland team of 1908 was later reinvented as the Parramatta Eels.

I originally started this thread of which the site overseers decided to change the name. I was called all sorts of names for suggesting that the NRL needed to seriously consider tearing up the Wests Tigers licence to play 1st grade (paraphrased) and Wests Ashfield only be responsible for entering the Magpies in the NSW Cup because of the club infighting and the impact it was having in respect of on field performances (a threepete of wooden spoons) as well as the savagery of the media. As a long term Magpie supporter (since 1964) Balmain TIGER supporters have been treated like mugs. I will repeat that I have believed from day one that the joint-venture was doomed for failure, and hence zero culture was never going to develop in this divided club. Shame on all Wests Magpie supporters throwing up the Wests Ashfield's 90% ownership. Magpies were dead in the water without the generous offer from Balmain to forge a partnership. This latest Holman Barnes Board fiasco only reiterates that the Joint-venture cannot work, and the NRL need to step in and save the name WESTS TIGERS for the sake of the current generation of supporters. I love the Magpies but I am embarrassed and my support of the great game of Rugby League is slowly slipping away.

Denouncing Wests and Balmain is just plain dumb. Why do people have to take it to extremes, that it’s either 100% devotion or disownment. Anyone who supported either club, should have a piece of it with them. But that doesn’t mean WT’s in 2025 aren’t the priority.
