Tallyn Da Silva #270

The way 9’s have been handled at this club the last 10 years has been awful. Liddle, Simpkin and TDS all at one time were earmarked as the future. When Liddle left, it was okay cos we had Simpkin. Then Simpkin left and it was okay cos we had TDS. Now losing TDS is okay cos we have Haywood. So my confidence in Haywood isn’t too high based on recent history.
So what you're saying is that in three years time we won't need to worry about Haywood leaving because some other young hooker will be coming through.

He’s been killing it in cup but fairly average when called upon in NRL. Nobody knows what his ceiling is yet and we don’t seem to want to pay on potential. I don’t think there’s much wrong with that considering how badly we’ve been burnt before

It’s only turning into a big story because he’s a Campbelltown junior
I think the major difference this time is the articles state the club is letting him look elsewhere, insinuating they are happy for him to go if he gets the right offer. As opposed to us begging and pleading for him to stay only to have him leave us for the roosters.

In other words, if he is getting offered 800k+ then thanks but no thanks

My take on it is that he probably has indicated not being happy if API is extended and being close to the Galvin camp has no doubt steered the club away from having a gun at their head for an unproven contract. The club gets stability and a player ahead of time that wants to be here.

So the only thing that has changed is WT have said he can negotiate now rather than November 1? It doesn't look like he has requested a release and his manager said if Api stays ( I read this to mean he extends beyond 26) then Tallyn will probably have to go ( i.e he won't extend when his contract runs out - end of 26) Why would he? Is Api only going to extend for 12 months extra?
Where is the issue exactly? It's tough because nobody wants to disrespect Api, but in my opinion the club is backing the wrong horse here.

At the end of the day, the club looks amateur for the second time in a few months, allowing two of their best juniors to negotiate with rival clubs, when they are still contracted for 18 months. Wasn’t Richo supposed to bring professionalism to the club? Cos I tell ya, we don’t look any more professional than we ever have.

I obviously didn't convey what I was trying to say very well. People having a go at TDS are wrong. He hasn't demanded a thing. He was always able to negotiate come Nov 1.
As for the club, I'm pissed at them..........again.

Good luck to the kid. I don’t think he is 1st grade ready but will be decent in a couple of years. He wants it now and that’s cool. If he has done it the right way and the club are cool then all the best.

And if we get kpp for this year as well the super.
......If we get kpp this year.....

The only acceptable outcome...another player in a spot we need...sick of helping the opposition for a few grand in return

I can tell you now …if he kicks on at his next club and goes onto a big career which I suspect is a possibility… the copium here will be that he always wanted to leave because of what happened to his buddy Galvin …even though I have only seen the opposite to date and he was prepared to stay

Yet the best hooker we've had since Robbie, is someone we bought from Penrith..

That is why we are a bottom 4 club and won't improve until some authority from the top including the board is shown.
