By that timeline, Tallyn would have been close to taking over whilst Haywood would be just starting the apprenticeship....albeit a rushed one by comparrison. So yes, Api's replacement, unless we buy one, is now 4 years away rather than 1-1.5.

By that logic though, it matters less because we don't need a replacement for Api given he's extending.

Meaning, yes, we don't need an Api replacement for a while, but would've needed it much sooner if Api wasn't re-signed, whether Tallyn is ready then or not. The extra time is a good thing for Haywood as he won't need to be rushed.

They've determined that Api will hold up fine until then, which they'll have to live and die by.

It’s pretty incompetent to use a million dollars of your cap as a prop. What if he accepted? Then what does the club do? You don’t play games with that sort of money. They were willing to pay him every cent.

But negotiations are just one big game. Chicken, who blinks first, what ever you call it. We are perennial wooden spooners so we don’t have the innate bargaining power of many other clubs and need to take risks.

Hypothetically, Just say he surprises everyone and accepts the million. There’s strings attached. He either buys in to our vision (coach, positioning, knowing his place within the organization: obviously this was not the case, you may disagree) or he leaves. It does definitely put upward cap value for the next club.

There is enough noise around him within NRL for him to be worth a lot of money; even if I don’t personally see it. Even Cleary was all buddy buddy with him after the game last night for eg. He’s earmarked, (deserving or not) for big things in his future. Tigers have to pay overs for those sorts of players.

Of course what Im saying is the talk of a rank outsider trying to make sense of whats happening, so make your own mind up, but yes, I think the cultural shift within the club is possibly causing a power inbalance that some arent liking.
I wouldnt call it bullying persay. Possibly more freezing out.
Im not going to talk specifics on the rumour as it is all unsubstantiated and hasnt hit the media in any real fashion, therefore it is likely without a tonne of credibility, but something has happened.

They certainly will be held to account on that one as it seems very unlikely that he can go without a ready made replacement available at all times. A relief player for Api needs to play every game if for only 10-20 minutes.

The islander culture if anything is too playful , and it’s hard to get them to take it seriously . It’s pretty much the exact opposite of a bullying culture .
It’s a load of bullshit … perpetuated by a Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon Stan …it’s nonsense .
We are a combination of 2 footy teams from two areas . The inner west which is extremely Mediterranean and white , and the south west which is also extremely Mediterranean and polynesdian . So if we are blooding our juniors what race do you reckon these kids are generally gonna be ?
But nah …. Islander culture is alienating white kids …… yea maybe if they’re entitled brats with no concept of what a team is .
Like I said for me as someone who was fairly intense as a footy player and generally in life , I found it hard to fire these boys up .
But man never was I in more fun dressing rooms than with those boys around .
And I don’t think this current generation suffer by and large from the chilled laid back nature , mainly because they grew up here . Sot here just as intense , if not more so than any kid out there .
So pull your heads in ….. seriously …

Oh yeh, they mentioned it very early. I haven't heard it since Sheens was running the show. Seems a lifetime ago now.

Just of note, though, it's worth adding to Api's bow that he does provide halfback cover, which we're seeing today unfortunately by the looks. Not sure Tallyn has that in his arsenal.

Haywood has that versatility for sure. Hopefully he continues on his same, impressive trajectory.

I'm no stranger to experimenting in the small lock position, but I think Api is a bridge too far. His defence in the middle is already pretty poor, is too small and his carries off the ruck as a first receiver, I think, would be a catastrophe personally.

Haywood look excellent so far, mate. He's a terrific young player and is already making his mark in Flegg at 18 years old.

Have you actually noticed how big Galvin is? He is 6ft 4in and approaching 90kgs. There is no reason he couldnt have played the centre role Doueihi has played for us this year. He could have played the ball playing lock role. Eventually when he filled out he could have been a star backrower.
Weve lost his services as a footballer, not as a halve.

You conveniently overlook the fact that he was NEVER going to stay .. and you know it .. he asked for a release before he debuted , several last year and only ever said “ I intend to serve out my contract”.. you can theorise over why he wanted to leave but I absolutely reckon it’s because he wanted to be at a powerhouse club ..
