I think if you look at things a bit more critically it starts to reveal itself.

Why was Galvin let walk 18 months early? He wasnt tanking games. He wasnt sitting in reggies just going through the motions. He wasnt costing us a fortune. He wasnt placeholding in the top 30 for someone we'd recruited. Things seemed amicable enough between him and his team mates and coach.
It has to have been the dossier and the legal letter yeah? There must have been some sort of weight to it for the club to act the way it did.

Now apply that to Tallyn. He was happy playing the backup to Api. In several interviews he excitedly talked about how priveleged he was to be coming to training every day and learning from such a great player. He acknowledged he had a lot to learn and was going to use the next 18 months to effectively grow his game to the point that he could take over in 2027.
Then, seemingly over night, that view was altered. He became demanding, wanting more game time and some sort of acknowledgement that Api wouldnt be the focus when they both came off contract at the conclusion of 2026. Why? Did he suddenly become big headed and greedy? Did he suddenly dislike learning from Api?
I think it is a lot more obvious that there was an incident and one that affected his relationship with the club detrimentally. IMO this has not much to do with footy, KPIs, succession planning or the like. I also doubt it originally had to do with money nor opportunity - it certainly does now, but when this first happened I doubt that was the priority reasoning.

Either way, this is a shit situation and a continuation of the player drain that we were supposed to rebuild this club around. Admin need to turn this tap off right now before it costs us the likes of Bula or other young guns that we have spent time developing.

The difference between your opinion and mine is, I accept that I am a passive observer who can see that Marshall must live and die by his decisions therefore believing that he will make truly informed and deliberated judgements. Unfortunately I do not have your incredible insight, but thank you for sharing it.
 
I find it rather strange that the club has not put out any official statement that TDS was not only given permission to talk to other clubs but also been allowed to negotiate a contract 4 months earlier than allowed. It would appear those saying there is more to this than just a disgruntled player seem to be on the money.

Spare me the passive observer routine, it’s a convenient stance when you’d rather avoid accountability for having an actual opinion. Hiding behind the idea that Marshall “must live and die by his decisions” doesn’t make you wise or objective, it just means you’ve chosen to stay on the sidelines while pretending it’s some sort of virtue. If you think deferring everything to his judgment is the pinnacle of insight, then perhaps it’s not my perspective that needs adjusting.

GM Football should be having input in these sorts of decisions. Your Gould, Ponissi, Daniel Anderson types who are a check and balance on coaches only thinking about next week. The club doesn't even have one.

It's glaringly obvious what this club needs to go that next step. You can see it, @Jolls has deep dived into it, most on here see it ... a football-savvy GM/Director of Football that oversees the whole program - roster, coaching, development & pathways. Not Betsey.

It's also probably more important to focus on the rest of 25 and 26, before we worry about beyond.

To be fair, it's always the coaches job to win now. I'd be a bit concerned if Benji was willing to sacrifice the rest of this year and next for what Tallyn may bring from 27 onwards. The gap between he and Api is still quite large.

I can live with their decision in the long term, provided they can cover for an aging Api and a bridge the gap to Haywood.

He's not 3 years back though. I expect Haywood to get a taste sometime next year and likely split from 27, when Haywood will be 20. Probably better timing age wise.

It's not an easy decision though and, for the umpteenth time, I think they've (Richo and Benji) not executed on massaging Tal to play the long game.

THAT is on them.

If that is true, why do we keep being sold the line of 5 year plans? They keep referring to it. They update it sporadically. The plan, the plan stick by the plan.

By that timeline, Tallyn would have been close to taking over whilst Haywood would be just starting the apprenticeship....albeit a rushed one by comparrison. So yes, Api's replacement, unless we buy one, is now 4 years away rather than 1-1.5.

Idk about bullying culture, or the poly culture, but as far as the boys club goes, we seem to be developing an expectation that the club should tiptoe in order not to upset the apple cart when it comes to all the brothers we have on the roster.

Yeah ok - so you think there is something in the bullying? That the environment among the team is not enjoyable? Or what is the incident yoyr referring too
