Tallyn Da Silva #270

We should have the intellectual and persuasive talent to be able to convince him to stay and bide his time.

But as we know, our recruitment consists of Shane, Benji and the stats lady.

$750k for Renno, don’t tell me we aren’t wadded up.
I understood we used a data analyst in the past for recruitment. It seems the smart way to operate. Don't we also have officers in the Western Suburbs and Balmain junior districts as well?

Also it's pretty clear Da Silva's been made to feel uncomfortable about the whole Galvin situation.

I don't blame him for wanting to leave when the club's leadership is essentially endorsing a culture that could be taken as seeking to exclude you.

If Richo promised anything game-wise, then he needs to pull his head in and stay in his lane. At the end of the day he is under contract and needed to let Haywood come through and develop. End of story. Strong clubs don't just rollover and let players walk.
I was referring more to some of the intimations from the cryptic posters that have come out of the woodwork in this thread

I know there’s another issue behind it all.

Wouldn’t be as big of an issue outside of football.

I won’t publicly draw attention to the specific issue. But I do think there is a few who know in the game

Reading in the thread, where some of comments and theories were going. I have attempted to realign the discussion or expectations.
You are not saying that Manly is not a good option for him?? 🤫

Yes, it’s a good idea to have the stats lady on hand, I’m a fan, but she can only take us so far.

She’s confined to recording past facts which doesn’t offer any guarantee of future performance nor can she address the volatility of the market.

But essentially, I think r&r- it gets down to people management and the mental arts.

Benji is strong in some aspects of this, but it’s impossible to be everything to everyone.

As good as Api is, we really can't be counting on him as a full-time player in 2027. He'll be 34 turning 35.

It's a real possibility that Da Silva will be as good as Api some time in 2026, let alone 2027.

If the club is lower of Da Silva then everyone others in footy, so be it. But if we do think of him as a great prospect, then it's just stupidity to prioritise Api.

Latu Fainu, Galvin and Da Silva could've potentially been our Munster, Hughes and Grant. Instead, we bullied one on the way out of the club, tried to sign a busted 35 year old to play halfback alongside a 5/8th we overpaid for and are going to lose the other because we want to keep a 34 year old hooker showing signs of slowing down.

Like what are we doing here? Are we trying to build for the future or win now?
... like sands through the hourglass,
so are the days of our lives 🥴

The great (& tragic) Wests Tigers melodrama lurches on ...

Nothing is clear i reckon...

Is this, "I want 600k and a starting role over one of the best hookers in the game" even real?

I think a lot of KIDS were made promises under Sheens and MacD. Now they're gone and the promises went with them.... which has upset a few people.

Male or female is inconsequential; they are a valuable tool for recruitment.

This is how it’s looking isn’t it.
Sucks though as a Wests Tigers fan especially when youth/development club was the statement motto Richo/Benji paraded around 12ths back

FWIW. There is 💯 more to this story.

Over the previous few weeks, it’s essentially been confirmed for me.

This isn’t just about the patience behind api. Although a big factor. There’s a little bit of uncomfortableness around a few things that are and have happened.

Apologies for anyone wanting specifics, the last thing I currently want is any more media attention or stories getting out.

But there’s more to this, which when I had heard, made it all make sense.
Doesn't like Pacific Islanders & is a closet KKK member?

Yep

I really like TDS too but as others said, he isn't ready to start.

Ideally he's 14 and plays the bench hooker role giving Api a break, which we all know is needed.

Going to Newcastle & sharing the role with... MATT ARTHUR, under a spud like O'Brien and a squad full of divas (Ponga, Brown) and fresh on the scene kids.... I cannot see how thatd make him a better player.

I've liked what TDS has offered the club since I first saw him.

Great potential.

But if you don't want to be at a club- no amount of potential is going to get the investment from the player.

You want out because you feel uncomfortable about something? Cool. Go find someone that buys in instead.

The NRL is populated with juniors playing for teams they did NOT develop in.
